🌍 What an incredible evening last week as we launched iCAN Bristol! Partnering with the Chartered Insurance Institute of Bristol, our Roundtable event brought together professionals from across the insurance and financial services sector to explore critical diversity, equity and inclusion issues specific to Bristol and the surrounding area. Key themes that came up during the session included: ⭐ Regional recruitment and retention - We discussed the importance of not only attracting new talent to the insurance sector but also ensuring we retain diverse voices by creating welcoming, supportive workplaces. ⭐ Cross-sector collaboration - There was a strong call for industry players to work together to raise awareness of the insurance industry’s diverse opportunities, especially among those entering the workforce. By promoting our sector as a desirable career path for school leavers, we can cultivate the next generation of insurance professionals. ⭐ Challenging barriers to entry - It was clear from our discussions that more needs to be done to address the challenges faced by underrepresented groups when it comes to accessing careers in insurance. Creating mentorship and support networks were seen as key actions to help break down these barriers. ⭐ The need for local action - Many attendees highlighted the importance of connecting with Bristol’s vibrant communities to address unique local challenges. By engaging with local schools, universities, and community organisations, we can help foster a stronger sense of belonging for future talent. We’re just getting started in Bristol, and we’re excited to announce that a bigger launch event is planned for next year! A huge thank you to our hosts at Armada House and everyone who joined us to share insights, ideas, and perspectives on how we can make our industry a more inclusive space. The engagement we witnessed reaffirmed the industry’s dedication to driving real change.
