🍧Is D&I fatigue slowing down progress in the insurance industry? A recent Insurance Business UK article explores D&I fatigue, with some companies scaling back budgets and questioning the long-term impact of diversity and inclusion efforts. But as Dr Julie Humphreys FCIPD, Head of D&I at Markel International, points out, now is not the time to lose momentum. While the industry has made progress, authentic engagement, fresh perspectives, and strategic investment are key to maintaining momentum. Humphreys highlights that D&I is not a tick-box exercise - it’s a business imperative that strengthens talent retention, innovation, and company culture. So, what’s next? Reaching those not yet engaged in the D&I journey, evolving strategies, and ensuring leadership buy-in. 🗣️ As Julie stresses: "It's really easy to think that because of the success that we've seen, we don't need to invest as much as an industry in D&I as we did 10 years ago. Don’t be disruptive for the sake of it, but challenge norms where it matters. Be strategic, empathetic, and confident in your impact. 🔑 The Power of Visibility Gareth Mutema Cert CII spoke about showing up and making a difference, no matter how small. 💰What did this year's Ethnicity Pay Gap Summit teach us? Last month, we gathered at Lloyd's for the 2025 Ethnicity Pay Gap (EPG) Summit, a day filled with insights, real-world strategies, and practical takeaways to drive meaningful change. 🗣️ Felix Wong, iCAN Thought Leadership Lead said of the event: “There’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Leveraging ethnicity pay gap data isn’t about hitting a number. Rather, it’s about understanding the unique factors at play in each organisation. A tailored, data-driven approach is essential. Copy and paste won’t work.” The event kicked off with Mark Lomas, Chartered FCIPD, Head of Culture at Lloyd’s, who shared their market-leading initiatives - including their 1 in 3 target for hiring ethnic minorities - and the long-term impact of investing in ethnically diverse talent at the early careers level.
