It’s not often that we get this excited about radar data but last week was an exception. We were given a demo of the IDS GeoRadar #StreamDP courtesy of Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon and it was well worth the 600 mile round trip. It was an interesting job, the site has a number of existing known and exposed chalk/flint pits as well some backfilled ones. We surveyed an area of a suspected pit that had been historically backfilled, the spot has now compacted/dropped leaving a slight depression which needs to be dug out and resurfaced. The area in question was well kept grass, a very welcome change from the usual terrain we find which made it perfect to push the Stream DP. The time saved over gridding the area was huge but it was the data that impressed us the most, even before post-processing the suspected pit was clearly defined while we were still on site. #GPR #Surveying #surveylife #utilitymapping #PAS128 #groundinvestigation
