Did You Miss the chance to join i14y Lab Summit 2024? No worries 😀 Please find the recap from the panel discussion on “Certification: the Good, the Bad, the Beautiful” together with key takeaways from the link below 👇 #i14ysummit24 #opentogether #networkdisaggregation #openRAN #openlab #validateandimplement #RohdeSchwarz #VIAVIsolutions #ORUtesting #ORUcertification
How Can Tests & Measurements Drive Open RAN Success? At the i14y Lab Summit 2024, panelists Ajesh Pk (i14y Lab), Sanna Brandt (Rohde & Schwarz), and Chris Murphy (VIAVI Solutions), led by moderator Monika Tarwala (Capgemini Engineering), dove deep into both the opportunities and challenges in lab testing and measurement. A few key takeaways: 🔹 Certification Challenges: Ajesh Pk noted that staying updated with evolving Open RAN standards and automating processes is critical for reducing manual errors and increasing efficiency. The i14y Lab continues to pioneer in Europe by providing certification for Open RAN components. 🔹 Undefined Standards: Sanna Brandt addressed the ongoing challenge of undefined standards within Open RAN testing, leading to longer setup times and a need for greater industry collaboration to refine testing specifications. 🔹 Lessons from 3GPP and GSM: Chris Murphy drew parallels between the current state of Open RAN and the early days of GSM, advocating for stronger collaboration between vendors and test tool providers to drive standardization and system integration. The i14y Lab's commitment to enhancing automation, expanding infrastructure, and fostering industry collaboration is paving the way for the future of Open RAN testing and certification. #i14yLab #OpenRAN #Telecom #LabTesting #Automation #5G #Telecommunications

Standardization takes time and comes in phases. This article describes a short summary of the steps towards 6G standardization expected in release 21. "In the approved timeline for the 6G work, the plan is to start development of 6G technology in mid-2025 with a 21-month study item which will analyze the technology options. In June 2026 at the latest, 3GPP will decide the duration of Release 21 work item and hence the date for the availability of the first versions of 6G specifications. Ericsson believes the 6G specifications should be ready by end of 2028. This will allow for the introduction of the first commercial 6G systems to the market by 2030."

In this work, the authors study both 4G and 5G #Vehicle #to #Everything (#V2X) utilizing #Evolved #Universal #Terrestrial #Radio #Access #New #Radio (#E-#UTRA-#NR) and propose the use of socially aware 5G NR dual connectivity (en-DC) for traffic differentiation. They also propose localized #Quality #of #Service (#QoS), wherein high-priority QoS flows traverse 5G #road #side #units (#RSUs) and normal-priority QoS flows traverse 4G base station (BS). They formulate a max-min fair QoS-aware #nonorthogonal #multiple #access (#NOMA) resource allocation scheme, QoS reclassify. QoS reclassify enables localized QoS and traffic steering to mitigate bursty network traffic’s impact on the network’s overall QoS. They then solve QoS reclassify via #integer #linear #programming (#ILP) and derive its approximation. They demonstrate that both optimal and approximation QoS reclassify resource allocation schemes in their socially aware QoS management methodology outperform socially unaware legacy 4G V2X algorithms (no localized QoS support, no traffic steering) and socially aware 5G V2X (no localized QoS support, yet utilizes traffic steering). ---- Rafael Kaliski, Ph.D., SMIEEE, Yue-Hua Han More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/eAVRT5eY
