And how do we bring the power of AI to bear to let them do three things: make more decisions, make better decisions and make faster decisions?” said Gen. James Rainey, Army Futures’ commanding general, at a recent Scale AI’s government summit. Rainey reflected on ways the military is adapting to the quickly evolving advantages and limitations posed by AI in modern warfare. “I don’t personally think we have a technology problem — I think we have a tech adoption problem,” he said. U.S. Army Launches Pilot to Explore Generative AI in Acquisition and Contracting The U.S. Army is set to launch a pilot program next month to explore how its acquisition and contracting workforce can utilize generative AI to enhance efficiency. Jennifer Swanson, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for data, engineering, and software, announced the initiative at Defense One’s Tech Summit. The pilot aims to improve contract writing and data analysis, increasing productivity and leveraging industry tools. The Army joins other DoD branches like the Air Force, Space Force, and Navy in experimenting with generative AI. The pilot, trained on Army data, will provide citation-based outputs for fact-checking and is part of a broader effort to integrate AI, reduce associated risks, and inform future budgets. #generativeAI #USarmy #defensetech #AIinnovation #militaryefficiency

Recently, the Department of Defense and the U.S. military have announced one after another the progress of their projects in the field of artificial intelligence technology applications. Currently, the U.S. Department of Defense is collaborating with civilian artificial intelligence companies to accelerate the promotion of the militarized application of this technology. The acceleration toward the militarization of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has raised concerns in the U.S. media and among insiders. Experts from the Task Force on Artificial Intelligence of the U.S. House of Representatives have said that, at this stage, the reliability and comprehensiveness of AI technology are still in doubt and that vigilance is needed for possible threats posed by this technology.
