Our R&D Outcomes Selected for National Top 100 R&D Performances in Korea Amidst the ever-evolving landscape of scientific achievements, there shines a beacon of innovation: our groundbreaking research, led by Dr. Ho-Jeong Chae, has attained the prestigious honor of being selected among the 2023 National Top 100 R&D Performances by the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT). Our team has resulted in a revolutionary breakthrough in the energy and environment sector. We've pioneered a catalytic process technology capable of producing hydrogen from ammonia at an unprecedented low cost. What sets our innovation apart is its utilization of inexpensive non-precious metal materials, a stark departure from the reliance on costly precious metal catalysts. This breakthrough not only enhances the efficiency of ammonia decomposition but also paves the way for future applications in hydrogen production across industrial processes like steel and cement manufacturing, promising a sustainable supply of high-temperature heat sources. The National Top 100 R&D Performance, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), aims to enhance public understanding and interest in the significant contributions of science and technology to national development and promote the achievements of scientific personnel. This year, out of a total of 854 candidate achievements selected and recommended by various departments and agencies, the final 100 excellence results were chosen through evaluation by a selection committee comprising industry experts, academia, and research professionals. This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to spearhead cutting-edge research and innovation in energy and environmental sustainability. An interesting contribution on flow-based market coupling has been prepared for this year's Cigré conference in Paris together with my colleagues Ferenc Nagy, Melinda Nagy, Ágnes Takácsné Esze, Tóth Luca Amongst others it contains an exciting analysis on price spread contribution of the active constraints. #mavir #flowbased #cigre

Delighted to announce the publication of our latest research paper titled "Probabilistic Prequalification Scheme of a Distribution System Operator for Supporting Market Participation of Multiple Distributed Energy Resource Aggregators" in IEEE Transactions on Energy Markets, Policy, and Regulation! This study is the result from the government-funded land-marking demonstration project for TSO-DSO-VPP coordination scheme, conducted in Gwangju-city, Korea. In this paper, we propose a groundbreaking probabilistic approach using Polynomial Chaos Expansion to help distribution system operators effectively manage uncertainties associated with bidding prequalification process in the wholesale market participation scheme of distributed energy resource aggregators (virtual power plants). Our newly proposed method allows operators to balance economic efficiency with system reliability by setting a predetermined acceptable violation probability. This interview was especially challenging as mid-conversation I had to improvise and change the language of communication. During the interaction, I realised that the interviewees have great insights but were not as comfortable with the English language. To ensure that the purpose of the interview, that is to share information, is fulfilled, I had to make the switch and I must say, it was refreshing for me. Not knowing a foreign language is not a problem and should not be held against someone at workplace. Languages are meant for communication and should be treated so, and not as a sign of intelligence.
