There's still time to book a place on tomorrow's session on 'green upskilling'! There is a #greenskills gap and we don’t currently have the knowledge or experience to reach #netzero and #biodiversity goals. How can we ensure that new talent entering the workforce has the relevant skills, but also look at how we can ensure that the existing workforce are prepared for the future? This session will provide insights into the skills gap, look at which sectors this is more prevalent in, and provide some context in how we can upskill and train individuals to get to where we need to be. #ESG Education: Empowering Individuals and Businesses for a Better Tomorrow In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (#ESG) have emerged as critical pillars for sustainable development and responsible business practices. As we navigate complex global challenges, ESG education plays a pivotal role in empowering individuals and businesses to create a more equitable, resilient, and prosperous future. Understanding ESG: A Foundation for Change At its core, ESG encompasses a holistic approach to decision-making that considers environmental impact, social responsibility, and ethical governance. ESG education provides individuals and businesses with the knowledge and tools to integrate these principles into their daily operations, investment strategies, and decision-making processes. Environmental Stewardship: Preserving Our Planet for Future Generations ESG education fosters a deeper understanding of environmental issues and the importance of sustainability. Individuals learn about climate change, resource conservation, renewable energy, and ecosystem preservation. Businesses gain insights into reducing carbon emissions, minimizing waste, and implementing eco-friendly practices throughout their operations. Social Responsibility: Building Inclusive and Thriving Communities ESG education emphasizes the significance of social responsibility and community engagement. It explores topics such as diversity, equity, inclusion, human rights, labor practices, and community development. Individuals learn to foster inclusive workplaces, promote diversity and equality, and support local communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. Ethical Governance: Upholding Integrity and Transparency At the heart of ESG education lies the principle of ethical governance. Individuals and businesses gain insights into corporate governance practices, regulatory compliance, risk management, and accountability. Embracing ESG: A Catalyst for Positive Change ESG education serves as a catalyst for positive change, inspiring individuals and businesses to embrace sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical governance as core values. By equipping ourselves with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of the modern world, we can drive meaningful impact and shape a brighter future for all. https://lnkd.in/gQphQwwB

A promising pathway be a responsible professional
🚀 Transitioning into the field of sustainability can be an exciting journey filled with opportunities to make a meaningful impact on our planet. However, navigating this vast and multidisciplinary field can be daunting, especially when it comes to building the necessary competencies and skills. Many professionals ask us how they can best prepare for a career in sustainability. The answer? Embrace the T-shaped competency development approach! 🚀 🎯 So, what exactly is a T-shaped professional? A T-shaped professional is someone with deep expertise in a specific area (the vertical bar of the "T"), combined with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and apply knowledge in diverse areas (the horizontal bar of the "T"). Think of it as being an expert in your field while also having a broad understanding of related topics. 🎓 💡 But how do you become T-shaped? It's all about a balanced learning journey. Sure, formal courses are essential, but don't underestimate the value of on-the-job experiences and networking. Remember the 70:20:10 rule: 70% of learning comes from doing, 20% from interacting with others, and 10% from formal education. 📚 Let's break it down with an example: Imagine you want to specialize in sustainability reporting while also having a broad knowledge of other sustainability topics. You'd dive deep into reporting (the vertical bar), while also collaborating with experts in areas like Strategy, Climate, Sustainable Finance, and Project Management etc. (the horizontal bar). At Earth Academy , we're committed to helping professionals develop their own T-shaped competencies in sustainability with the help of our three school #sustainabilityreporting #climate #sustainablefinance #tshaped #sustainabilityskills

I think it is vital that organisations figure out how to unlock the untapped potential of a green literate, skilled and empowered workforce, as this will be the key to delivering a fair and just transition to a net zero global economy. This is one of the key ways IEMA is supporting our #corporatepartners, and is on the agenda of almost every partnership meeting I host ... who do we need to train, what depth of knowledge do we need to give them and how can we enable them to become the change makers we need in all parts of the organisation. Undoubtedly this is a big challenge but it has to happen to ensure we are mitigating risks and maximising opportunities to build future proof, resilient organisations who: ➡ Safeguard their employees ➡ Act in the best interests of the communities they represent ➡ Protecting the planet we all share ➡ ...all whilst remaining profitable. We've all got to start somewhere and as I heard someone say - "don't let perfection be the enemy of good", after all the longer we delay the harder the task will become. 🌱Unlocking the Potential of Green Skills for a Sustainable Future! 🚀 The recent report by POST, UK Parliament, highlighted the crucial role of #greenskills in achieving our #netzero targets by 2030. With 80% of the 2030 workforce already in employment, the focus nneds to be on upskilling existing workers to drive the green skills transition. Employers are essential in providing solutions to support their employees to upskill. That's where the #IEMACorporatePartnerships program can help. We're here to support employers in equipping their workforce with the knowledge and expertise needed to thrive in a sustainable economy. Together, we can harness the power of #greenskills to build a brighter, greener future for all. #GreenSkills #NetZero2030 Let's talk #IEMAcorporatepartnerships Green skills for education and employment - POST (parliament.uk) https://lnkd.in/eG8tRG8G Alan Darby Claire Keen Ciaran Gracey Carley Robinson

If we want to invest in the future, we must invest in our future generations. As we look ahead to creating 35 million green jobs by 2047, the role of education becomes even more important in equipping students with the right skills and mindset for a greener future. I’ve always believed that sustainability isn’t just something we teach, it’s something we live and practice. By introducing sustainability concepts early on and making them a natural part of the learning process, we can help young people grow into leaders who are passionate about protecting our planet. It’s about planting the seeds today that will blossom into lasting change tomorrow. Ultimately, when we focus on sustainability in education, we’re not just preparing students for jobs, we’re empowering them for meaningful roles in building a greener world. I’m confident we can create a workforce ready to drive sustainable change for generations to come. #GreenJobs #Sustainability #FutureLeaders https://lnkd.in/g_9b3wSg
