This year’s Conference of African American Financial Professionals (CAAFP) hosted by The American College of Financial Services was particularly special as it not only gathered financial professionals and change agents but also welcomed an incredible group of students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). These students, majoring in subjects relevant to the financial industry, brought a refreshing energy and a glimpse into the future of our field. Through a powerful partnership with the Financial Alliance for Racial Equity (FARE)these students had the unique opportunity to connect with seasoned financial professionals, receive mentorship, and exthe various career paths available to them. It was inspiring to see the dedication of both the students and the professionals in fostering these connections and supporting the next generation of leaders. The students had their own forum and workshops tailored specifically to their needs, offering them practical knowledge and networking opportunities that will undoubtedly shape their future careers. I’m proud that NFP, an Aon company along with Lenox Advisors , played a key role in this effort. We not only participated in the Student Forum but also sponsored students to attend, ensuring they had access to these invaluable experiences. Seeing these young minds engage with the industry in such a meaningful way was a reminder of the importance of creating pathways for the next generation. After having a few days to reflect I want to say thank you to SouthState Bank for investing in me and allowing me to attend ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the historic The Wharton School. It was truly an amazing experience both in the classroom and getting to know peers from across the country.
