**HIRING FOR A FINANCE ROLE** Two days back, we had posted a req for two open positions from the Veddis Foundation account. One was for a role in rural livelihoods (RL) and another for a finance manager position at the foundation. The RL position got 50+ applicants within hours and 100+ within a couple of days. We now have some good options to consider for that role. Guess how many applications have come in for the finance manager position? ZERO! NONE!! NOT ONE!!! I can think of several possible reasons - chief amongst which is probably related to the Linked-in algorithms. I have a few other reasons I could think of - but that's for another post.. Job vacancies still high post-pandemic   Attracting top talent was likely more challenging over the last three months as job vacancies fell 6.1% from November 2023 to February this year.   The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that there were 364,000 job vacancies in February. This was down 24,000 from November, marking the seventh consecutive quarterly fall.   Although vacancies were 23.5% lower than their peak of May 2022, they were still higher than pre-pandemic levels. There were 136,000 more job vacancies in February 2024 than February 2020, a 59.8% increase.   Notably, there were several industries that reported more than 100% change in job vacancies pre-pandemic to February 2024. They were:   * Arts & recreation services was up 143.1% * Accommodation & food services was up 138.1% * Health care & social assistance was up 118.4% * Electricity, gas, water & waste services was up 117.9% * Education & training was up 102.2%   #accountant #smallbusinessbookkeeping #gibside_bk
