Pilot-isis… what’s that? Digital health pilots popping like mushrooms yet failing to gain traction to scale inside and across the hospitals. The #HLTHAmsterdam panel composed of Nicolas Castoldi, Directeur Délégué at Greater Paris University Hospitals - AP-HP, Micaela Seemann Monteiro, CMO for Digital Transformation at CUF - Hospitais e Clínicas, Thomas Whicher, Founder and CEO of DrDoctor, Katherine Jones, Lead Health at Hummingbird Ventures and Alexander Casall, Global Head of Business Line Health at ZEISS Group Digital Innovation, addressed the key question of moving beyond pilots. 🚀 To do this, they advised moving from Product Market fit to Product Market Implementation fit, taking into consideration 3 main elements: 1️⃣ Measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with the hospital’s objectives: To get those right, the panel recommended spending a lot of time with the various stakeholders at various levels of the hospital. 2️⃣ Assessing the effort to implement and adopt the solution (direct and indirect resources): they advised for stand-alone solutions throughout the pilot phase as interoperability requires too much effort too early in the validation of the value proposition; 3️⃣ Addressing the risk/reward ratio: they recommended taking the time to acknowledge and manage the risks associated with the new workflow/process. 🚀 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬? 🚀 Attending the #𝐅𝐇𝐈𝐑 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 has opened my eyes to the incredible potential of interoperability. Over the past two days, I’ve learned firsthand from experts like Kate Ebrill, Umer N., Rory Davidson, Kylynn Loi, Jörn Guy Süß, Michael Lawley, Jeff Parker, and others CSIRO team through the 𝐂𝐒𝐈𝐑𝐎 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 (𝐒𝐒𝐂𝐏), which hosted its first #FHIR Terminology Service Connectathon in #Philippines. We explored key concepts like building #SNOMED value sets and developing concept maps between different code systems to ensure structured, high-quality data for clinicians. 🚀🩺📊 Thanks to this event, Local Government (LGU) like ours can now see how standardized data capture will streamline decision-making and improve healthcare delivery by ensuring that health data follows patients wherever they go. Special thanks to UPM SILab, Doc Alvin Marcelo, and the amazing experts from CSIRO for making this event possible and for giving LGUs and EMR providers the platform to connect health systems, collaborate, and push #DigitalHealth and #Interoperability in the Philippines to the next level. As someone working in public health and technology for an LGU, 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐄𝐌𝐑 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠. T𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢—𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺. With the knowledge and tools gained from this Connectathon, we’re more confident than ever in our ability to create an integrated system that improves patient care and strengthens decision-making. It’s amazing to think how far we’ve come since the Digital Health Implementation Workshop ten months ago. That event laid the foundation, and this Connectathon has now taken us to the next level of interoperability.
