Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the IMA's 2024 Women Makers event in Southern Illinois - the second in a series of programs this year.
Women makers from across the state joined us for an in-depth discussion with regional women leaders and great food from host Amy Mills, owner of 17th street bbq. Thank you to panelists for sharing your experiences with our incredible group of women makers in Southern Illinois!
This was worth attending. Thank you all for opening up this space and allowing us to hear these perspectives. Truly inspiring to have women who are in it and have the experience.

Women’s month is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate women in our lives. But we could do so much more… the real conversations need to start in our own homes and our workplaces. In what ways are we daily advocating for women? In what ways are making room for them to be heard and celebrated? In what ways do we intentionally set women up for wins? Women should not have to wait for August to feel celebrated.
Our campaigns and events about protecting, standing up for and standing with women should not be a facade to please or impress the crowd, this should be a genuine desire to see women win at home and at the workplace. Women are role models, prayer warriors, and leaders to many people in their communities and circles.
Personally, women have had the greatest impact on my life— their resilience to keep dreaming even though the odds are against them, the tenacity to keep going when it could be easy to quit, the audacity to serve even when not appreciated, the miracle of carrying life and raising children, the power to love, to work, and to enjoy life.
The drive to honor and vouch for women should not stop when the month of August ends. It should be an ongoing pursuit… 💛
Last week, we had the pleasure of presenting to Cedar Valley Women Connect on creating, achieving, and maintaining balance in our lives.
If this is something you struggle with, we invite you to do this exercise:
Make a list of your values. (These values are the guiding principles with which we strive to live our lives.)
Then, after you list out your values, reflect back on the last week. Where have you said yes to something outside of your values?
Being aware of our "yes's" and if they are in alignment with our values or not will give us a clearer picture of where we could be out of balance.
The question then becomes - Why am I saying yes to something that doesn't align with my values?
And that is where we can grow and learn a lot as leaders and as important members of our families to create a better trajectory forward.

Grateful to have been given the opportunity to host our local chapter of Women Lead Change, Cedar Valley Women Connect, this morning. Attendees were joined by Kyla & Nick from Greener Shepherd who presented on creating, achieving, and maintaining balance in our lives, which is a lesson we can all benefit from!

Our goals as a business are simple, and we apply organizing principles to achieve them.
1. Make sure your strategy (the words) drives action.
2. Make sure your operations (the workflows) make those actions easier.
3. Make sure your workforce (the community) is organized to achieve together.
So when Erin Gallagher said she and her team needed support - we jumped at the chance to organize a group of people around an action, drive that action, and make it easier for more to join in.
The Hush Collaborative refuses to follow the business-as-usual line that political neutrality is the default policy. Simply by existing, we are political.
We support and will continue to support Hype Women and #hypewomenforharris because we deeply believe in women's collective power to create change within and outside systems.
We believe in the power of HYPE and storytelling to bring us together, connect us, and propel us all forward.
We share values, including being #honestforgood, telling it like it is, and centering truth over comfort.
But most of all, we are biased towards action, in our business and in our personal lives. Doing something – anything is the fastest way to learn, grow, and create more action.
If you haven't heard, Hype Women will continue the momentum of this incredible kick-off call with SEVEN MORE!
Follow us. Join us. Take action.
With their kickoff call, Hype Women for Harris is bringing together powerful women for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz—together, we’re making waves.
We had a blast collaborating with the HW4H Core team—Erin Gallagher, Alexis Voss, Jennifer Cho, and The Hush Collaborative.
This week we’re going to see a lot of posts and campaigns championing women.
If you’re going to be shouting this week, you need to be shouting all year around.
Values are embedded into your comms and strategy whatever the day or the month, and it often means standing up for what you stand for when it isn’t trending or topical.
But, that’s where real change happens.
That’s where real conversations happen.
That’s where the gritty and gorgeous things happen.
If you’re shouting about women this week, shout about them every day of the year.
If you’re not prepared to do that, then you need to sit this one out.
We don’t need more noise.
We need more action.

Women in the US now hold 30% of Corporate Board seats 👏
Although this is a US Report from 50/50 Women on Boards, it is still an interesting read for those in Canada. There is a finding that may not surprise anyone here:
"When Women Lead: Companies with women in key leadership roles (CEO, Board Chair, or Nominating Chair) show higher board diversity, correlating with a greater percentage of gender-balanced boards and increased representation of women and people of color."
