As Salam Alaikum all, Ramadan Mubarak to you all! I know this year’s market has been tough for many, as people have been applying endlessly for months without any prospective career. HOWEVER The recruiting season for entertainment has JUST STARTED and many companies based in LA have started applications online. It is still competitive, it still requires networking, personal polishing, and interview prep. But it’s another chance nonetheless. Companies such as Sony, Disney, and the Illumination Animation Studio (below) have posted creative marketing, creative development and other back end Entertainment roles. I know many of you haven’t considered an internship in tech, but I never considered an internship in IT Pharma and look where Allah has taken me. Especially our Muslim Brothers and Sisters, us as an Ummah have no representation in Hollywood, and so the only way we are ever included in a film is either as a “terrorist” or being tokenized with a “Muslim Character” who doesn’t authentically embody what it is to be Muslim. If you have any questions about recruiting, feel free to reach out to me, I will try to repost as many job opening as I can on my feed. As it is the month of Ramadan, don’t forget to capitalize on this opportunity to pray more, and make dua more. Make dua right before Iftar, or right before Suhoor when you wake up, or after Taraweeh. When effort, Salah, and Dua come together, unimaginable opportunities have risen, just be patient. If anybody does end up taking one of these roles in Hollywood, please let me know. I would like to discuss your role and what we can learn in order to improve our understanding of the industry.

I read this article about interviewing skills and these two points I found interesting. 1 is to research the company's you want to apply for. By doing this you know what to say, do and act like in the work inverdment. 2 is Communication. Practice good communication in advance by observing your body language. By practicing this you can stop yourself from slouching and you will look more attentive and focused.
