All that glitz is not gold Just like certain parts of Taipei, Taiwan, the superficial glitz of Bangkok, Thailand is not indicative of the quality of life. The upscale QSquare Mall is only about 100M south of the Taipei Main Station, whose perimeter covered by its extended eave is home to many homeless Taiwanese. The top-two pictures taken in 2018 show a slick high-rise and the Siam Paragon Mall, inside of which brims of designer boutiques as well as showrooms displaying supercars, still look the same today. The office tower is within short walking distance and Siam Paragon a couple kilometers from the scene in the bottom-right picture taken early morning of Apr. 19, 2024. The Thai woman shown bottom-left in said picture is a hooker who believes there may be potential johns at that hour or has just finished servicing a john. The other night there were 3 of her cohorts soliciting nearby. Usually starting around 11AM daily, street vendors selling juices, sundries and souvenirs line this section of Sukhumvit Road that is popular to tourists, putting up with the stifling heat that easily exceeds 35C. There are also streetwalkers around the well-known Longshan Temple in Taipei, as well as plenty of hookers soliciting online or employed by pimps operating well-hidden brothels. Just like in parts of Taipei, there are myriad tiny retailers selling redundant products in the area shown who spend most of a day twiddling thumbs. Their strategic frame work - Strategic Clarity, People and Mindset , Creative Ambition. Dove is one of Unilever's three biggest brands, selling more than €5bn worth of products every year. And you can't think about Dove without thinking about the campaign for Real Beauty. This year celebrating its 20th anniversary, Real Beauty has become a social movement worth $7.3bn. In 2023, Louis Vuitton opened "Nóng Hó, Shanghai,” a pop-up space by Shanghai’s oldest waterway. It hosted a wide range of activities, including book clubs, architecture tours, film screenings, cultural talks, and workshops for children. 🤝 Brands are collaborating with others in the same or different industries. For example, to promote its “City Guides,” Louis Vuitton partnered with three popular cafés in downtown Shanghai. 🚶♂️ Citywalks, involving leisurely strolls and contemplative exploration of urban areas, became a very popular lifestyle trend post-Covid. I thought of dedicating this content to cafés as places for at least two reasons: the first is that many of these spaces around the world are examples of cutting-edge design and architecture. The second reason is that coffee has driven a movement of cultural and creative influence over the decades. Today, the most beautiful cafés in the world encompass much more than just the simple ritual of gathering to share this timeless beverage. We are talking about a book that includes many examples from around the globe.
