Uplift, Empower, Unite: Mary McLean for a Brighter Sault Tribe Future
📣 Attention Sault Tribe Members! 📣
Let's have an open and honest conversation about a concern that some of our community members have been experiencing: feeling unable to communicate effectively with our Board of Directors. It's crucial to address this issue head-on.
First and foremost, no Sault Tribe member should ever fear facing retaliation from any elected official. Our Board members are elected to serve YOU—the Sault Tribe members. Similarly, our hardworking employees are dedicated to serving our community and customers for the betterment of the entire Sault Tribe.
If anyone on the Board is not driven by a genuine commitment to serving the people, then they simply do not belong in their position. Our Sault Tribe members deserve authentic representation and should never feel reprimanded for expressing their concerns.
While we acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of our Board members, especially at the federal level, it's essential to clarify that Sault Tribe members do not "owe" anything to our Board Members or Chairperson. These elected positions are service roles, and those who hold them should expect to deliver results for the Sault Tribe members and the community.
Moreover, if honored with your vote and entrusted with a seat on the Board of Directors, I will make it a priority to maintain a service mentality. I pledge to be at your committee meetings, elder lunches, cultural events where I would be happy to listen to your concerns or host monthly meetings where you can drop in to speak to me to ensure all Sault Tribe members
are empowered to express their concerns, thoughts, and needs.
Let's foster an environment where every voice is heard, valued, and respected. Together, we can ensure that transparency, accountability, and genuine service remain the pillars of our community. 💬✊ #SaultTribeCommunity #VoiceMatters
