From the desk of Dr. Gerilyn Davis: Happy Friday!! I hope you had a splendid holiday. I truly enjoyed myself. For this daily assessment, I witnessed an inclusive example and story to share. For my holiday, I attended a neighborhood gathering. There were several things that I found to be most compelling. --- INCLUSIVE EFFORTS: The neighbor who hosted the event made a point to reach out to all his neighbors. --- INCLUSIVE RESILIENCE: Even after they didn’t attend, he went around the cul-de-sac, spoke with each of them, and still included them in the festivities. --- INCLUSIVE DETERMINATION: He was determined to be inclusive even if others didn’t receive it. Lo and behold, someone engaged who normally doesn’t. There are always opportunities for inclusion. It sometimes only takes ONE person to make a decision and be an example for others. Now, that is something to celebrate! Enjoy your holiday weekend! #joyofinclusion #inclusionexpansion #inclusionincludesyoutoo #InclusionontheSlopes #SWORDInclusionSystem #PhaseFiveDailyAssessment

Elevating Organizations with Top-Tier Talent 🚀 | AI Recruitment Workflow Solutions Strategist🤖 | Candidate Success Architect 💼
As executive recruiters, we often focus intensely on candidates' skills, experience, and past achievements. Of course, these are crucial factors in assessing fit for a given role. However, Simon Sinek wisely reminds us that people ultimately make decisions based on why we do what we do. Our candidates don't simply want to know what they'll be doing day-to-day or even how much they'll earn. They want purpose. They want to feel like their work has meaning and makes an impact. As Sinek puts it, they want to buy into why we as recruiters and our client organizations do what we do. “People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it.” This quote challenges me to reflect on my own why as a recruiter. Fundamentally, I believe bringing the right people together to tackle meaningful challenges changes the world for the better. When I take the time to connect with candidates about shared goals and values versus simply discussing their resumes, magic happens. These interactions are infinitely more inspiring for all involved. My hope is that we as recruiters inspire both our candidates and our clients by always coming back to why. The work we do matters so much more when we connect on this deeper level. If we never lose sight of our fundamental why — our vision for a better future — I believe we'll also never lose sight of the passion and talent that fuels meaningful progress. My challenge to all my fellow recruiting colleagues is to lead with and listen with why. Let's keep this wisdom from Sinek front and center as we build powerhouse teams. #whatsyourwhy #purposedrivenrecruiting #executiverecruiting

💫DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IT IS! Sometimes early last year, I came across an Ad to apply for a training in Digital marketing. I didn't give it a second thought because it was something I had always wanted to get my hands on. 💥Seeing the numerous criterias that I had to fulfil to be considered, this made me doubt my confidence initially but I was encouraged to go further. When I got through the first stage of selection and unto the next........and unto the next........and finally! I got In yaaaaaaay!💃💃💃. One thing I loved about Digital Ad Expert is their persistence and a global cultural values of bringing out the very best versions in their students and never giving up on every one who is privileged to be taught by them. Digital Ad Expert paved the way to a Digital version of me.....Lol, they drew people of divers colours and backgrounds under one massive learning umbrella and they encouraged us to relate with each other regardless of our backgrounds through our weekly meet-ups and online breakout rooms. It was indeed an experience I cherished greatly and Golden moments too. ...........Fast forward to this year, they reached out to me to share my experiences with the world and I'm super honoured to do this. I'm proud of who I am today, all thanks to the Digital Ad Expert initiatives and learning journey. I'd urge everyone to keep pushing forward never to consider giving up, you never know who is watching, listening or observing........🤣 #digitaltransformation #digitaleconomy #digitalcompetency #techcareerskills #womenintechnology #globaltechtalents #techtalents

I've been reflecting the past few days on the Race Table Talks session I attended on Saturday facilitated by Laurabel Mba Consulting. Most of us didn't know each other. We came together, as a group of white women, nervous yet eager to participate in a conversation that challenged our inner biases and opened our minds to the racism that persists within ourselves and our communities. Although uncomfortable at times, it was an incredible experience and I strongly recommend all white folx attend. I'm committed to continuing the work to make myself a better ally to the racialized people in my community. We are each born color blind, our stereotypes and biases are learned and deeply engrained. We cannot call ourselves DEI advocates, if we are not intentional about interrupting the cycle in ourselves, our workplaces and most importantly our children. Laurabel will tell you that her son is what inspired her to take on this work, she has inspired me to do better for my son. How do I react when a family member says something racist? I learned the questions to ask myself on if, when and how I should address this with them. What pre-conceived assumptions do I carry that are incorrect? I learned that being racist is not the worst thing. It is an opportunity for acknowledgment and learning, so that tomorrow I will do better. As a business leader, how do I ensure I am fostering a safe an inclusive workplace for our racialized team members? It requires intentional, consistent and continuous effort to make DEI an expected and demonstrable value of our organization. As the mother a Inuk child, I think often about the racism my child will face throughout his life. I will never fully understand his experience or be able to protect him from the injustices he will face. He is a different color than me, when people learn he is adopted, people most commonly say, "He is so lucky". They carry preconceived assumptions and biases about the life he might have had in his Inuit community. I carried them too before his adoption. I know now how wrong they are and am committed to advocating for the empowerment, fair treatment and reconciliation of Indigenous peoples. Follow Laurabel Mba Consulting for enlightenment, education and updates on future events.
Big thanks to everyone who joined Saturday’s Race Table Talks session! Your dedication to self-education and confronting inner biases is instrumental in fostering inclusive and safer environments for racialized individuals within our communities. If you couldn’t make it, fret not! Stay tuned to our social media channels for updates on our upcoming sessions.

The Silent Goodbye: When Disability Makes Friendships Disappear You might have seen Mark Webb's powerful TEDx talk in Kingston Upon Thames. https://lnkd.in/eF9xjgSE One part resonated deeply with me—the one about friendships fading away when disability forces you to step back from work. Once, close friends seemed unsure how to navigate now that you're disabled. Maybe it's fear of saying the wrong thing, or perhaps it's discomfort with the "uncomfortable." Whatever the reason, the result is the same — a slow drift apart. Here's the thing: friendships, like any relationship, require effort. If you have a friend grappling with disability, reach out! A simple text, a virtual coffee date, or even an offering to help with errands – these small gestures can make a world of difference. Let's break the silence and build bridges of understanding. After all, true friends are there for the long haul, not just the champagne celebrations. #TuesdayThoughts #FriendshipMatters #DisabilityRights #WorkAndLifeBalance #InclusionForAll Video Description — Mark, in his powerful purple suit, presents a TED talk called 'In times of crisis, don't be a stranger'. It's a powerful reminder of the cost of not embracing disability in the workplace.
