35 Kingston Avenue in Brooklyn is one of interesting recent multifamily projects in IMC's portfolio. The property owner wished to maximize the number of units on the tight, elongated lot, while creating a residential building with charm and character that fit the historic Bed-Stuy neighborhood's architecture. Our team designed a 21-unit, 16,500sf rental property completed at the budget of $5 million. The lot's shape and size allowed us to incorporate an internal courtyard that increased the natural light access to all residences. The facade’s design includes several homages to Brooklyn and its rich tradition of masonry. https://lnkd.in/d6wKGUyA Eugene Mekhtiyev AIA, LEED GA, Jonathan Imani, RA, Dominick Casale, RA, #architecture #architecturedesign #interiordesign #interiors #commercialdesign #commercialconstruction #commercialinteriors #commercialinteriordesign #residentialdesign #residentialarchitecture #realestatedevelopment #realestate #multifamilyconstruction #multifamilyrealestate #multifamilyarchitecture

Multi-family residential architecture has been one of IMC's main markets since our firm was established in 2015. 618 Monroe Street in Brooklyn is an example of an enjoyable smaller scale work that allowed our team to focus on subtle details, with an understated facade that merges the brick and stucco vocabulary of nearby buildings, both traditional brownstones and more contemporary recent developments. The new building stands out from the other residential structures on the block due to its intentional slight asymmetries. The $3 million, 12,000sf, four-story property houses 10 units. The structural system is cast-in-place concrete. https://lnkd.in/d_2xUqKe #realestate #financialdistrict #NYC #architecture #propertyinvestments #propertydevelopment #realestatedevelopment #realestatebusiness #interiordesign #landmarks #architecture #architecturaldesign #interiordesign #NYCrealestate #construction #commercialarchitecture #realestatemanagement #residentialrealestate #housing #propertymanager #multifamilyrealestate #multifamilyinvestments #realestatefinancing #historicpreservation #newyorkrealestate #constructionmanager #constructionmanagement #hospitality #lighting #lightingdesign Jonathan Imani, RA, Dominick Casale, RA

This is the front elevation of a residential building, designed by our office anod architecture at Polygono hill, Athens Small dimensions of the plot set from the beginning an interesting challenge during the design process. Natural light enters in the spaces only from the narrow front – North elevation – of Geranion street, with a width of 8.00m and the back –South elevation– of corresponding width, with unobstructed views towards the Saronic Gulf. The absence of balconies on the North elevation was a synthetic decision. This is in contrast to the small balconies that are usually present in older buildings in the narrow streets of Athens. While the unparalleled view from the South elevation towards the Saronic, led us to design large openings and balconies. The above characteristics, to a large extend, influenced the final layout of the apartments, where we find rest areas on the North side, while the living room and kitchen areas are placed on the South side. #anodarchitecture architectural design | construction : anod architecture stage: under construction Follow us | : instagram : bit.ly/anodarchitecture : www.anod.gr #architecture #greekarchitecture #dezeen #designboom #archdaily #greece #greekarchitects #greekarchitecture #instadesign #design #architecturelovers #building #residential #athens

Rosepark Towns- Post number 2- Transitional Architecture This development sits in the middle of a neighborhood, which is quite different when a higher density design is introduced at the edge of a neighborhood or within a higher density designation. Therefore, extra attention had to be given to the architecture to make sure that the result did not clash with the surrounding context, or would look out of place. The intention behind the design of this development was to create an architecture which was transitional. A contemporary concept which also pays tribute to the traditional architecture prevalent in the area. Red brick was chosen as the main building element to harmonize with the red brick that is existing in the neighborhood. Sloped roofs were introduced again to pay tribute to the existing roof styles in the area. French style windows were also considered for the same reason. These were the main traditional elements. Now to introduce contemporary elements, the roof material was upgraded to standing seam metal roof, versus regular shingles. The windows were made bigger, to increase the ratio of openings to solid walls. The window mullions are colored black to differ from the traditional white mullions in the area. Wood patterned cladding is also introduced in the recessed areas above the doors, which vertically break the horizontal continuity of brick.

SC Architecture - Architectural services for refurbishments and new build projects. A young, vibrant RIBA chartered practice.
What Is a Mansard Loft Conversion? *Named after French architect Francois Mansard *A mansard loft conversion can span the entire width of the roof *So it has the potential to add plenty of space to your home. *Typically built outwards from the rear of the roof at an angle of around 72° *Windows are often fitted within small dormers. Mansards will alter the aesthetic of your roof significantly, so will usually require planning permission (unlike dormers, which can often be achieved under Permitted Development). #SCArchitecture #Addvalue #Architecture #design #extend #planning

ARCHITECT Magazine just published our Fifth Avenue Pied-À-Terre renovation. https://lnkd.in/ek2fXRjq Prior to the renovation, the apartment was dark, despite four west-facing windows along Central Park, so a primary goal was to make the space feel lighter and brighter. Conceptually, millwork volumes - rather than conventional partitions - read as floating objects while delineating the different spaces. This helps stretch the perception of space to the apartment’s perimeter walls. The living and bedroom spaces flow into one another, and when privacy is needed, hidden pocket doors recessed in the pantry volume can be closed. Imagine living in this stunning residential tower! This architectural render showcases a modern high-rise apartment building with floor-to-ceiling windows and a sleek design. Large windows are a great way to bring natural light into a space, which can have many benefits for residents. Natural light has been shown to improve mood, boost productivity, and even help regulate sleep cycles. Design projects like this one allow architects and developers to visualize a building before it is constructed. This can help to ensure that the final product meets the needs of the community and creates a livable and functional space. What are your thoughts on this design? Located in the beautiful Cincinnati suburb of Indian Hill, this residence draws inspiration from the timeless colonial architecture that graces New England. The home was designed as a five-part plan to reduce the overall scale of the home and create a facade that appears to have organically evolved and grown over the years. The addition of classic double-hung windows, complemented by operable shutters, serves to further solidify the home's visual appeal and reinforce a sense of timelessness. Additionally, the strategic use of a stone base and vertical chimneys not only anchors the dwelling to the land but also imparts a sense of permanence, reinforcing our profound appreciation for historical design precedents. The world of architecture and home construction is witnessing a dynamic shift, largely influenced by innovative materials that are redefining the boundaries of design and functionality. At Glass Flooring Systems, we understand the critical role that deck building materials play in this evolution. Glass, once considered a fragile material, has undergone a transformation, emerging as a robust and versatile option in deck building. Architects are now increasingly incorporating glass in their outdoor deck ideas, capitalizing on its ability to offer unobstructed views while providing a contemporary and elegant aesthetic. Glass flooring, in particular, is gaining popularity for its ability to flood lower levels with natural light, creating a sense of openness and continuity. Judges' Citation: Sort Trae: Designed to Passivhaus standards, the buildings not only respect their setting but have a minimal impact on it. The ultra-low energy approach uses the thermal mass of the concrete retaining walls and south facing triple-glazed walls to manage internal temperatures and create a comfortable, highly efficient environment. Accessed at the upper level, the two-storey house straddles the level changes across the steeply sloping site. The other element, the single-storey studio space, is nestled into the landscape. Both of these buildings have full height triple-glazed windows facing out over the countryside to exploit the amazing setting while also preserving neighbours’ views across the idyllic surroundings. The main house is designed around a central dry-stone wall with the staircase on one side and housing storage on the other, keeping rooms simple and uncluttered. At the upper, entrance level, either side of the stair sit the two bedrooms with panoramic views. This allows level access to the bedrooms should that be needed in the future. On the lower floor, the wall separates an open plan living and dining room space which both open out onto an external south facing terrace and pergola structure that can be planted to provide shading in the summer. The jury felt that the use of natural, local materials and elegant detailing has created calm, beautifully lit space for the owner to live, work, and enjoy the stunning setting as their needs and the world around them changes. #architecture #ribaawards #notesfromasmallpractice HEM Architects JAM Structural Design Susi Clark Terry Huggett RIBA Yorkshire Dug Wilders
