Young people with rare diseases are living longer than ever, which is fantastic! However, moving from pediatric to adult care can be tough for families. Smooth transitions happen when pediatric and adult doctors work together. Here are some tips to keep in mind: 💜Start the transition process early; it's a multi-year journey, not a one-time event. 🧡Teens, caregivers, and doctors should plan the transition together. 💚Avoid transitioning during a medical crisis. With good planning families can make this important transition as smooth as possible! 💪 (Source: Raredisease.net) #TANGO2ResearchFoundation #TANGO2Disease #RareDiseaseCommunity #TANGO2Parent #TANGO2Warrior

Medical mimics of child abuse are a big problem for many families and can result in a child's involuntary separation from their family, placement into foster care, receiving improper medical treatment or even death. To fight this out in the courts can take anywhere from months to years and the physical and psychological damage that results is not always repairable. Don't let this be you. If your child has any of these conditions or experiences similar symptoms, seek assistance from a qualified medical professional you trust! This is what the "not at all uncommon" practice of medical kidnapping looks like: Your child has a medical issue, you, a caring parents, brings them to the hospital to get help. Without any evidence that the medical issue was caused by anything, you get accused of having caused the medical issue via abuse. You are then either forced to leave the hospital without your child or social services and police show up at your house in the middle of the night without a court order and with a bunch of lies (right, Patricia Murko Family and Children's Services of the Waterloo Region?). Watch CTV W5's "Dubious Diagnosis" for examples of medical kidnappings of E.K. (strokes and infantile rickets) and his siblings and Z.S. with Osteogenesis imperfecta, medically kidnapped by Hamilton Child and Family Supports and Family and Children's Services of the Waterloo Region Family and Children's Services of the Waterloo Region failed to make any changes to their policies after the medical kidnapping and prolonged harassment of E.K.'s family and went on to medically kidnap another child, C.T. (with EDS). How many more victims are there? Where are the statistics? Why do you keep relying on the same doctors at McMaster who repeatedly misdisgnose abuse, like Baird and Nolan? Where is the accountability, Sonia Dennis Family and Children's Services of the Waterloo Region? Are you going to threaten me with a lawsuit again for telling the truth? #AccountabilityForCAS #DontLookAway #StopMedicalKidnapping
