Meet Micah, a Graphic Design Intern! 🎊 Located in the New York Metro Area, Micah graduated from the New York Institute of Technology. She loves the training at her job, describing it as "boot camp with more coffee and fewer push-ups," which helps prepare her for the "fast-paced agency life, especially before the peak season hits." 🏋️♀️ Micah has learned that "mastering time management and communication is crucial to thriving without becoming a stressed-out creative zombie!" She said she "enjoys the supportive community at Implico, where coworkers share challenges and advice, making work feel like a shared adventure." After the Implico Academy Kickoff Conference in Dallas, TX, Micah's favorite part was "chatting with my coworkers about their different takes on everyday challenges and their passions outside of work was a fantastic learning experience. It brought us closer to seeing the real people behind our remote work screens, making those virtual interactions feel a lot more human." 👭 Favorite Template: Cupertino. Micah loves its "fun and dynamic vibe. The vibrant colors and modern elements make the content engaging and easy to navigate." Hobbies: Micah said, "By day, I'm a designer making magic happen, but in my free time, I'm a total animation geek binge-watching animated shows and leveling up my own animation skills. It's like living my childhood dream on repeat!" 🥰 Fun Facts: Micah has a pet bunny and calls herself "just his treat dispenser working to earn his approval!" 🐰🥕 #MeetTheTeamMonday #GraphicDesign #WomanOwned #EmployeeEngagement

The first month of my internship as a graphic designer in meta² design studio at School of visual communication has ended. During this month, I created posts and cards dedicated to the holidays for one client according to his brand book. In the beginning, my visuals looked like a jumble of everything that came into my head. It’s even a pity that I didn’t save all the previous versions of each visual to see my path from chaos to order, from excess to minimalism. My mentor led me along this path and taught me to build a system, adhere to its rules when creating each visual, see the essence, sweep aside the unnecessary and inappropriate. The work went slowly, I again and again went beyond the system, layered unnecessary things, and my mentor again and again brought me back to order. Sometimes it was annoying 🙂 But I learned to look at design through the eyes of my experienced mentor, to notice the smallest details. This requires patience and concentration - those important qualities that you need to develop in yourself in this world of endless noise, bustle and chaos. Word-emotion: ORDER

Have you ever hired a designer to design icons? I was... My first internship was in 2019 as a graphic design intern, where I exclusively worked on icon design. While every intern's dream was to design something big and unique, I was given a brief that required me to create something small, simple, and easy to understand. That's what graphic design is all about... I believe in a quote that says, "If your design doesn't solve anything, your design is art." I realized during my internship that even a small dot or corner design can make a huge difference in the overall design. Every brief in design was different, but the agenda was the same: "We are facing this problem. Can you solve it with the new design?" It's like we are warriors in front of the laptop screen. This is the belief we carry. There are designers who know 10+ software and countless AI techniques to create something immersive. But when you create a design using Canva and it works wonders for your client, does that mean you are not a designer? A VERY BIG NOOOOOO.... - Your design can be beautiful or ugly. - Your design can be small or big. - Your design can have multiple colors, many effects, and glows. But if it does not convey what it must, then it's not a design. P.S.: My first internship office space. I always came early before anyone else for six months 🤣 What was your crazy story as an intern? ~~~~ 📌 Hi, I'm Tarun, I empower Tech Entrepreneurs/Founders to bring their vision to life. My internship as a graphic designer in meta² design studio at School of visual communication has been going on for more than two months now. Recently, I had to work on presentations, schemes, templates for mailing. It was a work with order and following the system. Given my analytical background, these tasks did not cause significant difficulties. Continuing the internship, communicating with experienced designers, you feel how piece by piece the overall design system is increasingly woven into your thinking and your life. I am one of those people who move slowly. I often criticize myself for this. At such moments, I remember the words of my mentor Nataliia Syniepupova, who told me: Sveta, you just do and your time will come. I mentally rely on these words and then a path and a vector appear. Word-emotion: VECTOR

Junior motion designers are lost. Remote work is great, but junior designers have told us they have trouble learning and getting mentorship. So what did we do about it? We created the Fly on the Wall program. Fly on the Wall invites talent to join us on motion design projects and observe. This allows us to include and educate more people than a traditional internship. The Motion Flies sign an NDA, and then join our slack channels, client Zoom calls and Milanote boards. They truly see projects come together from beginning to end. Why? • To learn the process and see it unfold in real time. • Understand the true language of motion. • See the best way of communicating and posting work. • How to organize and address client feedback. • To build community. • To watch seasoned creatives pitch, and discuss work with clients. • To break down barriers in our industry and build relationships. FOTW provides mentorship, community and so much more. Got questions? If you're interested in the program, drop a comment below.

When I was a graphic design intern, I had to go out to a client and show some design work I’d done. It was a bit scary, I was on my own and I wasn’t that confident about the work. I was new to graphic design and I was used to deferring to my colleagues for their expert opinion on my work. The client liked the work, and was positive and complementary, but they wondered if we could have a bit of concept A mixed with a bit of concept B (designers, insert your own meme here). While explaining why that wouldn’t work, I realised that all I needed was to know more about design than the client, and that made me the expert in their eyes. This still comes in handy for me today. When I start a new job or project, and I don’t have much context of the space, or in room full of much more senior stakeholders, I can remind myself that I am the expert in the part I know about, and I can feel confident about that. #designintern #graphicdesign #onestepahead #lifelessons #confidence #expertise
