Anxiety: The Silent Barrier to Youth Employment Did you know that 43% of young people identify anxiety as a major obstacle to securing a job? 🤯 This statistic underscores a hidden challenge that often goes unnoticed in traditional employment support: mental health matters as much as skills and experience. For many, anxiety isn't just a personal struggle—it’s a systemic barrier that can limit access to opportunities, interviews, and ultimately, careers. At Imployable, we understand that holistic support is essential. Our programs integrate confidence-building, mental wellness sessions, and practical career mapping to empower young people. It’s not just about landing a job—it’s about fostering resilience for long-term career success. Let’s change the narrative together. How can we collectively create environments where young people feel supported, not overwhelmed? Let’s discuss in the comments.👇 #YouthEmployment #MentalHealth #CareerSupport #Empowerment #Imployable

🅵🅰🅲🆃 🅵🆁🅸🅳🅰🆈 It's estimated that 15-20% of people in the United States are neurodivergent, which includes "disabilities" like autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, OCD, intellectual disability, down syndrome, etc.. Neurodivergence means their brains may have developed and/or work differently. I decided to dive into this topic because in the last 8 weeks, I've been contact by three different neurodivergent people who are eagerly trying to get into the workforce. Of those three, one has chosen to become my client. I met him once and I can tell he's friendly, intelligent, and just a little "socially awkward" (those are his words). This young man has both Bachelors (3.99 GPA) and Masters (3.78 GPA ) degrees in Public Policy / Public Administration. He's even willing to relocate. In short, this guy has potential. He just needs someone to give him a chance! Here are the resources I've discovered so far that may help the neurodivergent job seeker (and in some cases, also help the employer): 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 Job Accommodation Network (JAN) Office of Vocational Rehab (OVR) Lime Connect Career OneStop CAI (Allentown, PA) 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 Mentra Jobs for Humanity AbilityJOBS CareerCast Disability Network AbilityLinks Enable America USA Jobs Metra Neurodiversity Career Connector If you know of any other resources that should be added, please include in the comments and I'll make sure to update my list. Bad news first: Job searching will bring up a lot of hard feelings like insecurity and loneliness and navigating careers as a NeuroQueer person is hard without a supportive community that understands that lived experience. Job searching requires a TON of executive function (which obv. is already tough for us ADHDers) 🫠 & it can very quickly lead to imposter syndrome and burnout. Much of the advice I see out there doesn’t make sense for us NeuroQueers because it doesn’t account for: ❤️ our often limited capacity for multi-step processes 🧡 our complex history of navigating workspaces that didn’t make us feel safe/respected as our intersectional selves 💛 when we spend hours a day applying to jobs (and stressing), it uses up all of our limited spoons so we feel like we don’t have a life outside of the job search 💚 being ghosted & rejected triggers our rejection sensitivity We spiral. "Am I doing something wrong?" "Am I too visibly queer/trans/neurodivergent?" NeuroQueer job seekers NEED someone who can give expert job search/career advice AND understands how your intersectional identities impact your career So you can work WITH your brain instead of against it, feel safe to be your authentic self, and get to where you want to go When you’re able to get support in this way, and have a community of NeuroQueers on the journey with you, you feel validated, supported, and confident that you deserve and will get a job offer That’s the good news. 🫶 Claim Your Career, my 6-wk cohort program, was made with ADHDers (like you and I) in mind Our community is filled with NeuroQueer folks on the journey with you ✨ Our next cohort starts Jan. 20th, and by enrolling before Jan. 5th you’ll save $50 on enrollment, and receive a LinkedIn profile review plus priority booking for the included 30-minute 1on1 with me. Details in the comments!

"Catfishing" is a term we often hear in the digital world, but it’s now making its way into workplaces. In a new trend, some Gen Z employees accept job offers but don’t show up on their joining date—without any prior notice. This has been termed Career Catfishing by recruiters. As an educator, I see a similar pattern in classrooms. Many students today don’t hesitate to skip their assessments or evaluations, often citing personal reasons—feeling unwell, traveling home, or even last-minute commitments like blood donation. While all reasons might be valid individually, the ease with which assessments are deprioritized is striking. I don’t want to sound like a typical “hamare zamane me” person, but I can’t help thinking about how we showed up for exams even with a 104°F fever. Not because we had to, but because it mattered to us. Maybe this is a generational shift, or maybe there’s a deeper reason behind it. Either way, I wonder—should we call this Academic Ghosting? Or is there a better term for it? #catfishing #ghosting #generationalshift Why Gen Z might be skipping their first day on the job without notice https://lnkd.in/ddESy__g
