Winter weather adds a whole new level to #airportoperations! Enjoy this #timelapse of various winter operations tasks being completed at #TheNewT5. Removing snow and ice from an #aircraft that has been sitting at the gate is one such task. Here you can see Austrian Airlines' #B777 being deiced. #Deicing is the process of spraying aircraft with chemicals that help remove the buildup of snow and ice. This is an essential part of the departure process in the winter, since snow and ice can prevent aircraft from generating enough lift to fly! Clearing snow from runways, taxiways, and ramp areas is a constant battle. In the background of this video you can see one of the snow removal teams from the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) - O'Hare & Midway International Airports performing this task. They are removing snow from the taxiways that connect the Terminal 5 ramp to the rest of the airfield. Let me know what other parts of #ORD's winter operations you would like to see from the #T5Tower! #aviation #chicago #airport #boeing #winter #ORD21

Director of Operations at Sentient Signature | Global Air Charter Broker for Private Jet, Group, and Helicopter Solutions
What three letters are an air charter broker's worst nightmare? "𝐀𝐎𝐆". The term "AOG" or "Aircraft On Ground" is used in the aviation industry to indicate that a problem is serious enough to prevent an aircraft from flying. AOG situations can arise due to various reasons, including mechanical failures, maintenance issues, or damage to the aircraft. As much as AOG situations are the worst nightmare of charter brokers and our clients alike, they are, unfortunately, part and parcel of the aviation industry and happen occasionally. However, as a responsible broker, the vital part is handling these situations to ensure minimal disruption to the client and the original itinerary. Last week, the team at Sentient Signature - Air Charter Specialists and I were faced with an AOG situation on a transatlantic flight due to depart the following morning. Sadly, the nature of AOG situations usually means we only have a matter of hours to react and find a suitable solution to the problem. Nonetheless, with the help of the fantastic team at Planet Nine Private Air, we were able to source this stunning BOMBARDIER Global Express as a replacement aircraft. Following the procurement of the necessary permits, we had our clients on their way across 'The Pond' with the least disruption possible. #PrivateJet #PrivateJetCharter #AirCharter #AOG #AircraftOnGround #AirCharterBroker #Bombardier #GlobalExpress Kate Mihailovic Kirti Odedra

Chief Ground Instructor at Miami Dade College Eig-Watson School of Aviation for the FAA Part 141 Pilot courses and FAA Part 65 Dispatcher Courses.
Calculating the wrong V-speeds by using erroneous data for density altitude and aircraft weight can result in a tailstrike. Also incorrect T.O. power settings may cause or contribute to tailstrikes. You will learn about this in a good FAA approved Aircraft Dispatcher class.

The global air cargo market’s hot summer of double-digit demand growth continued in August with average spot rates showing their largest year-on-year growth of +24 percent, according to the latest weekly analysis by Xeneta. “Typically, air cargo market performance in August tends to follow the July trend," says Niall van de Wouw, Chief Airfreight Officer, Xeneta. "But another month of double-digit demand growth and the strongest rate growth of the year means there was definitely no summer slack season in 2024. An error or a violation? ACI, ISAGO and IOSA have elaborated in details on not just Apron but Ai airport inspection, audits and monitoring to ensure continuous improvement. While ACI talks about engineering, ie, markings and pavements in maneuvering and movement area, IOSA and ISAGO reflects on continuous improvement through monitoring or audits to identify the gaps. The importance of factors to consider when selecting a #contractor is emphasized in #HSE. In this case, our contractor is the GHC~FAD. He should be competent enough to point out all the hazards if at all he is ISAGO Compliant. Simply said, there were no, 1. Ramp markings to indicate safety buffer zone, a point at which a GSE should not go beyond at the bay as they await the flight. 2. Wing walkers to guide the pilot with thumbs up signal. 3. The GSE seems to be on, meaning, the EO was not aware that he was not supposed to to leave the engine running unattended.
A Delta B737-900 aircraft originating from Atlanta, GA, made contact with a stairs truck on apron at Owen Roberts International Airport in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) is investigating the incident that occurred on 9 February, at 12:51 p.m., affecting flight operations for approximately 20 minutes. The incident occurred with the stairs truck owned by their ground handling service provider FADS, which was staged on the apron, resulting in damage to the aircraft wing as it parked and causing the truck to tip over. 🎥Cayman Marl Road #aircraft
