Whilst we are in full swing of gathering this year’s annual report submissions, lets look back and remind ourselves of the various articles that featured in last years. I am thrilled to share that my latest paper, "Optimal charging/discharging management strategy for electric vehicles" has been published in the esteemed ‘Applied Energy ' journal (impact factor =11.2) - marking my first publication of 2024! This paper represents a significant milestone in my research journey, I delve into the crucial aspect of efficiently allocating EVs to optimal charging stations (CSs) for maximizing trading energy and minimizing total response time. Combining various optimization models, I address factors like traveling distance, V2G and G2V energy trading, response time, and energy prices. Electric refuse trucks power homes - Viola starts trials. Phase 2 trials will test the practicality of electric waste collection trucks to power UK homes - by feeding back stored energy from their batteries to the grid. The truck batteries are 6 times larger than those in an average electric car. The waste collection fleet is usually parked and inactive at peak energy consumption times, meaning they could provide the ideal energy source using V2G technology. We wait with interest to see the results of this phase of their trials. EV fleets can become electrical storage facilities. Veolia plans to electrify all of its 1,800 refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) operating in the UK by 2040. It estimates that the electrification of its fleet will enable the company to provide the grid with around 200 megawatts (MW) of flexible power capacity daily, the equivalent of the evening peak energy demand of more than 150,000 homes.
