Rubber ducky theory. Have you heard of it? Basically, “rubber duck debugging” is when a developer explains the code line by line to detect any bugs or flaws. Not to bother any other developers (who are working too, you know) the explanation is given to a non-living object, like the rubber duck, hence the name. Do you have a duck on your desk? #incorateam has some, maybe not ducks, but other cool things✨ That’s how we make our office so cozy! The workspace is not just a laptop-monitor-headphones or other strictly technical environment. It’s also about things to cheer you up or help concentrate. Some corners of our office are also filled with pictures of us, to remember every nice moment we had (and will have)📸 Bottom line: make your workspace productive, but also cozy. What goodies do you have on your desk?🦆 #worplace #desksetup #office #team #softwaredevelopmentcompany #incora

History of interfaces. History of Outlook Initially, email was developed as an addition to the Office 95/96 suite - and was called the code name Ren & Stimpy (like cartoon characters). It was one of the additions to desktop office programs, like FrontPage, which Microsoft bought from Vermeer. Such development required mail servers - the developers jokingly called Capone the product and the server team, but little attention was paid to user convenience: when the entire team thinks only about the server part, the interface side of the issue was left out of the equation. In general, as some eyewitnesses describe the events, there were several product teams that were on the server side or the first mail prototype, and they competed with each other. As a result, it was decided to combine the teams’ efforts into one, creating Frankenstein. Outlook had all the features of Explorer, plus support for many viewing and sorting options, just like Excel PivotTables. These views worked for mail, calendar, tasks, and more. How will customers react when the vast majority of people don't yet use email and almost no one has email in their corporations? As it turns out, the growth in app usage has been exponential. For the complex and functionality-laden interface of the first mail, the log metaphor was suitable: in the log view mode, all used Office documents were tracked, as well as the time spent viewing emails, phone calls, and tasks. In addition, there was a completely new user interface element called the Outlook bar, which was similar to the Office shortcut bar, but inside Outlook to switch between different Outlook modules. However, some Microsoft employees subsequently criticized the mail - it is still unclear whether this was an effect that was created or is it mostly due to the fact that the mail came in a package with all office applications? https://lnkd.in/gPmAZgkQ The story is from this book. The history of the software from Steven Sinofsky , former vice president of the Windows division at Microsoft

What other shortcuts do you think people should know?
