Even though approximately 1.8 billion people around the world menstruate every month, there are no global standards for #menstrualproducts - yet. This means the quality- and types of- menstrual products you can buy differ from country to country. It is a massive shortcoming - and market barrier - that the ISO - International Organization for Standardization (ISO) , through its Technical Committee (TC) 338, is aiming to address. SHF was pleased to join representatives from 19 National Standard Bodies, UN agencies, civil society organizations at the Danish Standard and at the UN City Copenhagen in Denmark to participate in the 2nd in-person plenary meeting of the committee last month. The Swedish Institute for Standards, SIS - secretariat for this committee - made optimal use of having so many delegates together by focusing discussions on expanding knowledge and understanding of menstrual products and their performance, and to address safety concerns and requirements to strengthen the rigor and quality of the menstrual product standards currently under development.   As the work to develop #globalstandards for four categories of menstrual products continues with a view to complete this critical piece of work by July 2027, SHF remains committed to work with our partners to ensure the voices and views of Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and the millions of users who live there are duly represented. #InvestinMHH #MHHMarket Read more about why this matters here: https://lnkd.in/g8CXgbpj

Supreme court on Tuesday broadened its inquiry about misleading advertisements ads by Patanjali #Day31 of 90, covering FMCG The Supreme Court has not only flagged Patanjali but all the other FMCG companies that promote such misleading advertisements. The court seeked help from the Centre and State govt to look into the matter and identify all the companies. Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah have asked the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to conduct investigations on doctors, who made fake prescriptions just to get something from the company and what all actions were taken against them, for such unethical practices. ⁉️The court also raised fingers against IMA stating “This is not going to be all just that there are FMCGs, there are you and your members who are prescribing medicines on the strength of recommendations made for which there is valuable consideration… If that’s happening, why should we not turn the beam at you?” Taking customers for a ride isn't permissible in this country, particularly to babies, children, and women, who consume their products and are more at risk, said the court. The court also isn't just targeting a specific company but sending a message to all the volunteers, such practices won't be entertained. 📥Reason: The court simply wants to protect regular people who buy medicines and products based on misleading ads. They want to make sure these people aren't being fooled into buying things that aren't good for them. The Consumer Affairs dept, The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, including state authorities are responsible for licensing drugs under a common law. This law controls how drugs will be advertised and stops using such content as "magical power" to make one better. Also asking what authorities have done to such parties in the past 3 years. How to afford it? oil subsidy rationalisation maybe the answer. the 2024 budget is movibg to the right direction
