Strengthening maternal health is crucial for improving the lives of all mothers and babies. Research and data show that there are racial and ethnic disparities in death rates. Non-Hispanic Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, Black, and American Indian/Alaska Native women are at least two to four times as likely to die from pregnancy-related causes as non-Hispanic white women. Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition is committed to ensuring that every mother, every family and every baby has access to receiving the care and support they need. #blackmaternalhealthweek

Understanding the menstrual product gap: In India, 52% of urban women use sanitary napkins, while only 16% of rural women have access to them. This disparity leads to numerous menstrual health issues for rural women, including infections and reproductive health problems. Empowering rural women with proper menstrual hygiene products and education is crucial for improving their health and well-being. #MenstrualHealth #PeriodPoverty #EmpowerWomen #RuralIndia

As I return to work after the (safe and healthy) birth of my daughter, stories like this bring home the importance of CARE's continued fight for safe maternal health globally. Before the conflict in Tigray, 90% of mothers received prenatal care, and more than 70% benefited from skilled deliveries. Today, women are transporting each other to clinics in homemade stretchers. CARE's Women Lead in Emergencies approach is bringing women together to come up with innovative solutions, but long term change is needed. #GenderJustice #Maternalhealth #SRHR https://lnkd.in/eByRRqeR

The disparity in maternal health outcomes is alarming. In Minnesota, Black women make up 13% of the birthing population but account for 27% of pregnancy-associated deaths. It's crucial to address and eliminate these inequities in our healthcare system. #birthjustice #birthjusticeadvocacy #pernatal #maternity #culturalcare #maternalcare #healthequity #BirthJusticeCollaborative
