Short video with Craig Ramsey from ACI "The Perfect Storm in Payments - Real-Time Payments" highlights that 2% of instant payments is for consumer to consumer use cases, leaving 98% for use cases with a corporate entity on the other side of the transactions. How can corporates benefit from instant payments? Invoice payments, staff salaries, expenses, and more. The exciting thing about instant payments is that is using ISO20022 data which enables rich information about the payment to travel with the transaction, streamlining reconciliation. Of particular interest is the mention that in Australia, NPP is using the ISO20022 with the real-time payments with house purchases, sending mortgage documents in a single packet with the payments.
