Commissioning Phases & Handover Model Equipment Procurement Stage - This is an important phase of the commissioning process when FAT and IFAT take place. Off-site testing must align with on-site testing, especially for control and protection cubicles. Take your off-site testing for granted, and you're likely to run into delays and cost overruns during on-site testing. Get the complete ICA Global Commissioning Standard for a detailed understanding of the entire process, including equipment procurement, to derisk your projects. Commissioning strategy during FEED will make or break your project. #commissioning
The first steps of the Commissioning & Handover Model are where you define your commissioning strategy. This takes place during project concept and FEED stages of projects. This is where the success of on-site testing is determined. Set the wrong strategy (or skip this step of the commissioning process altogether), and your project is already headed for delays and cost over-runs at the end. The release date for the ICA Global Commissioning Standard is Feb 3. Let's learn about Testing & Commissioning Plan ⚙😜 The purpose of Testing and Commissioning (T&C) is to verify the working status, functionality, and performance of each system to ensure it meets the design requirements. Below is the flow of planning for Testing and Commissioning: System Design Procurement - Every design, especially Construction Design (CD) needs to undergo procurement before proceeding to the manufacturing process. First Article Inspection (FAI) - This is a formal method for providing testing reports for a given manufacturing process - The supplier/ manufacturer typically prepares the testing procedure to ensure the test of materials, equipment & component comply with the technical specification. Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) - This test is commonly performed at the manufacturer's facility. - It involve checking the functional, static and dynamic performance of the manufacturing components of the system. - FAT is carried out before sent to the site or another manufacturing stage System Acceptance Test ( SAT) - This test is usually conducted on-site for the entire system to ensure it functions correctly and performs well both statically and dynamically. System Integration Test (SIT) - This test will be conducted on-site after completion of the SAT of each system. - In the context of Rolling stock, the train is tested to ensure integration with all system equipment such as signalling, electrification, rail, wayside equipment and other related systems, to form the complete railway. Fault Free Run (FFR) - Final Stage of the SIT as required by APAD. - If any failure occurs during this testing , a failure analysis report must be issued to summarize cause of the failure and the actions taken. *Image is for illustration purposes only

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗣&𝗜𝗗𝘀 One of the must-have skills for anyone in EPC, especially in process plants, is to understand how to interpret P&IDs. P&IDs provide detailed information on the design and operation of a system, ensure safe and efficient maintenance, and facilitate effective communication among engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel. If you are new to process plants, this free course from EveryEng will add value to your learning and development. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: https://lnkd.in/eND5F6a3

Are you familiar with the critical process of commissioning punch listing? It involves ensuring that all installed plant components are thoroughly checked and any unfinished work is documented and agreed upon. This meticulous process guarantees that the plant is ready to be handed over to the commissioning team. this document illustrates how to check and list the punches and prioritizes the same. #Commissioning #QualityAssurance

The sooner the commissioning team is in front of the site, the better
Many projects plan for commissioning only after construction has already started - at the red arrow below. The problem with this, is that all the earlier phases of the commissioning process are missed. And this is too late to properly inform construction groups with the information they need during the construction completion phase. Projects have to play "catch-up" to try to recover from earlier missed processes, or risks that could have been mitigated earlier, are now becoming expensive mistakes. If this is your projects, see what you're missing that's costing your projects - get a copy of the ICA Global Commissioning Standard at the "visit website" link above when you become a member of the Industrial Commissioning Association #commissioning #freemembership

We prepared over 100 SIL verification test procedures for a brand new offshore installation in the UK North Sea🇬🇧 When Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) are designed and installed, they need to be tested before they are put into operation and relied upon to give a discrete amount of risk reduction (i.e. to keep your people and assets safe). The procedures contained the following content👇 - SIF description - SIF Inventory - SIF testing pre-requisite information - Test protocol for testing engineered overrides - Test protocol for end-to-end function test - Reinstatement checklist - Witness signatures section - Independent Witnessing Onshore/Offshore A recent HAZOP at a UK onshore COMAH plant identified the need for Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs). Before a SIF can provide protection, it must undergo verification testing to ensure it meets design requirements. During testing, a SIF exceeded its process safety time, failing the test. Investigation revealed that the process safety time was mistakenly replaced with the SIF response time. Through working with 6 Engineering we were able to identify safety factors which needed improving, leading to a safer workplace and a reduced chance of accidents occurring💪 Want our help?
