We are now entering the final stages of our 'Follow The Rig' series in conjunction with BSI Marine Equipment Group... Last week, the team at RSB Rigging Solutions successfully re-stepped the rig of S/Y Beagle V, following thorough servicing of the rigging at BSI Marine. The process involved a meticulous procedure, starting with dual cranes lifting the rigs horizontally, then manoeuvring into a vertical positions before carefully lowering onto the yacht. This complex operation required seamless coordination between our deck team, handling the crane and rigging connections, and our below-decks team, meticulously positioning cables, hydraulic hoses, and aligning the mast foot with the step. The precision of this task, facilitated by continuous communication through Bluetooth headsets, highlights the expertise and nerve needed for such a critical phase of rig maintenance. In addition, a smaller crane was employed to manage the headstay furler motor, demonstrating our ability to simultaneously handle multiple components with finesse. Once the rig was securely in place, attention turned to adjusting the standing rigging tension and securing the mast with halyards to facilitate the attachment of the vang and boom. Completing the rig step is just the beginning, as it sets the stage for the final rig tune procedure, ensuring S/Y Beagle V is prepared for optimal performance.
