Competition for the best #engineers hasn't gone away, and "there are still not enough good engineers to go around," says Josh Healan, president and owner of #recruiting firm Wright Technical Services. "But what we are seeing is a rebalancing of the demands engineers are making when changing jobs," including a dialing back of compensation expectations, he says. Still, demand is hovering around 5 opportunities per candidate, and projections indicate it will remain there, according to Healan. Wright's Engineering Talent Demand Gauge for this week is at a surprising low of 3. This means the United States is at its lowest point in the past year with only three available job openings per Engineer looking to make a job change. Don't let this number fool you though. The actual number of Engineering openings actually increased by 5% week over week and is the highest we've seen since November. What's driving the Demand ratio down though is that the number of Engineers looking for new roles increased by 19% and is the highest we've seen since we began measuring this data a year ago. In theory, this should increase the talent pool for companies hiring Engineers.
