I've worked on many Award Winning Films and Commercials. Here's how I create photorealism when compositing CG. There's a big step most freshers and juniors miss. References, References, References, References. Stop guessing, start using references. Best way to do this? ↳ Start photography and learn composition. ↳ Start using and creating photographic references. ↳ Start collecting references before starting compositing. I use references when I approach CG in compositing. Next, I break it down in 3 levels: 1. Is it a full CG shot? Collect many references. 2. Is it a live action plate with CG? Check your plate! 3. When I started doing layout I didn't know how important it was to work with passes, not only was it a way to have better control in your work and methodology, but also as a way to see the progress of your sequence. Working with lenses!... How it makes a difference. In my journey as a layout designer there is a before and after learning to use lenses to enhance the narrative. In this sequence I used the short lenses (except for the POV shot) to accentuate the camera movements, show the character and her surroundings, which is so important for that moment in the story. And by maintaining a certain visual distance from the characters and their reunion, an objective camera is created, which is a mere spectator of the intimate moment between the characters. After finishing school they will understand that they learned everything and Now how to make a portfolio there are several points that I want to highlight here 1. Infrastructure ( not up to the Industry Standards) 2. Books ( Hard Copy) 3. One Faculty For Multiple Subjects ( ex. 3D department Faculty - used to teach Modeling, Unwrapping, Texturing, Rigging, Animation, Lighting, Rendering, Video editing and Sometimes Graphic Design as well As Photoshop and Illustrator ) 4. Less Industry Exposure 5. Industry Visit 6. visit to Film Festivals 7. Less Exposure Industry Events 8. Less Practical Knowledge 9.
