Our friends at Kipu Quantum developed a pilot project to analyze and improve the resiliency of the optical fiber communication network for the Galician telecommunication network operator R, in collaboration with Cinfo. The project aims to enhance network resilience and significantly improve quality of service by evaluating thousands of nodes in shorter time scales. Key highlights of the project include: - The design of a quantum algorithm executed on two types of quantum hardware including our Aquila neutral-atom quantum processor accessed via Amazon Braket and using 46 qubits. It also used the D-Wave annealer. - The algorithm identifies the most sensitive nodes in the network, allowing for focused counteractions to ensure maximum network availability and service excellence. - The project is expected to cross the threshold for commercial usefulness as early as 2025, enabling the MASMOVIL Group to expand this work to larger networks. - QuEra's neutral-atom quantum computer was used for examining sublattices after an initial segmentation of the network. - The project demonstrates the potential of quantum computing in optimizing complex network infrastructures like R's and highlights the importance of collaboration between quantum hardware companies, algorithm vendors, and technology partners. This project showcases the imminent use of quantum computing in resolving common industry problems and optimizing telecommunications networks, moving away from traditional brute-force and experience-based approaches. UK Quantum: 5 Quantum Missions in National Quantum Strategy The British government has announced five Quantum Missions to build the United Kingdom's capabilities in Quantum Computing and Quantum technology. Announced on the 22nd of November 2023, the National Quantum Strategy Missions have five specific missions, which include building a quantum computer capable of running 1 trillion calculations by 2035. The aim is also to create a Quantum Internet, use quantum sensing within the NHS and quantum sensors in various sectors, and utilize quantum clocks deployed across the critical infrastructure in the transport, telecoms, energy, and defense sectors. https://lnkd.in/eD33V9r9

Came across an interesting post by Brian Wang of NextBigFuture on Infleqtion and quantum. Specifically, it was the Quantum Radio Frequency (QRF) that really caught my attention, however the entire post is interesting. There is video/slides regarding Infleqtion's 1600-qubit array + five-year roadmap to fault-tolerant quantum computing if you follow the updates regarding QC.

Quantinuum today announces another historic milestone that is sector-defining, raising the bar further for quantum computers with a double-first in the quantum computing industry. Firstly, H1-1 quantum computer has achieved a two-qubit gate fidelity greater than 99.9%, and secondly, with the same processor, we have achieved a Quantum Volume over one million (2^20). Quantinuum is the only company to offer these levels of performance in a commercially available machine (i.e. not a selective derived from an isolated lab test). Taken together, these milestones further extend the distance between Quantinuum and the rest of the industry. Notably, this performance is achieved without error mitigation, and when combined with all-to-all connectivity and qubit reuse, it confirms that ion-trap QCCD technology is the most promising architecture for true low-overhead error corrected quantum computing.
