My favorite time of the year is here… everything is starting to green up and bloom, a sign of the new season, springtime at the farm! The pasture animals have left the hay bins full and are indulging on the preferred fresh grass. I love looking out at them grazing, surrounded by wildflowers! Our pic this month features the 2 standard donkeys, Bucky and Lucky. Bucky is the one who is caught with a smile. Clearly it is not a standard smile, but a “silly” one. A conversation came up last month with a President of a company on a succession plan. In the conversation, a team member was mentioned and something that was holding them back. Surprisingly it was a “resting face” – their facial expression when not active comes across as being unapproachable. Bucky here has a horrible resting face and includes his ears pinned back, but his approachable face is just plain silly! How does your resting face or body language come across in the workplace? Do you notice you or your team being perceived as having something that could be holding you back in taking that next career step? As always, peoplezest is here to help bring a fresh perspective to the seasons of your career. https://lnkd.in/ezsq4aVb #peoplezest #executiverecruiter #multifamily #executivesearch #careergrowth #bodylanguage #workapproach

🧘🏽 ✌🏽 Breathe innnnn, breathe owwwuut! I remember a particular organisation where I worked. We were three (3) in my team, and we all gave ourselves a name tag. You know, those nicknames that remind you of a certain workplace superpower you have. My teammates would refer to me as ‘the calm one’, because somehow, when things were falling apart, I sort of remained level-headed. When the ‘roof was on fire’, I was the one who would ask everyone to calm down and try to work with everyone to figure a way out. I have so many instances where calmness was my response and still is. Remaining calm helps you act within the context of expected professional conduct. Your choice of words and the direction of your decisions will flow in line with your reaction. The office environment can get under your hair every now and then. What’s important is how you respond to everything that happens. This is your sign to keep #calm and carry on; not every comment deserves your comeback, not every email should be responded to in a curt way, and certainly not everyone deserves your priceless attention. #careeradvice #careerconversations #careerdevelopment #careergoals #careerchange #careersuccess #careercoaching #careertips #yourcareerally

Let's be honest, when the axe is hanging over your head, even pulling an all-nighter to finish that report might not save you. 😅 Anyone else been there? You're giving 110%, but the scenery never changes? 😂 Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, some things are just… inevitable. Like when your boss has already decided your desk needs a new occupant. Share your "I tried" stories in the comments! 👇 #worklife #funny #relatable #jobsearch #truestory #whenitstimeitstime #sorrynotsorry

Today's takeover comes from me, Amy Mellor, I'm the Director here at Reed Screening. Today is National Quiet Day. A day founded in the idea of finding peace in a noisy world and that is dedicated to embracing silence and to taking a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. This day in particular resonated with me as I am the first person to be going from one task to another whilst doing another 3 at the same time. I had to work hard to learn to sit in quiet as it was quite boring to me and so it is a skill I have to continue to practice. Examples of how I engage in quiet activities, without being bored, are going for a walk (not a run as they are very much sponsored by LCD Soundsystem) or reading a book. If you only have a few minutes, it can still be done by journalling or planning your week. The benefits of making sure there are a few minutes each day to enjoy peace and quiet are ten fold - it allows you to pause and reflect, it can reduce stress and bring a few minutes of calm to your day whilst appreciating your surroundings. Let's not pretend it comes easy to us all, but I can highly recommend making an effort for those few minutes of quiet each day and what better day to start than on National Quiet Day - let us know in the comments how you will be celebrating. #reedscreening #insights #takeover #lifeatreed #backgroundscreening #pioneeringhiring
