For 30 years, Hytest has been at the forefront of cardiac troponin research, and we remain dedicated to scientific excellence in this field 🫀 🧑🔬 In our new study, we investigated the influence of heparin on the immunodetection of human cardiac troponins. 🔍 There is conflicting data regarding the effects of heparin on the measurement of cardiac isoforms of troponin I (cTnI) and troponin T (cTnT), which are used for the immunodiagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. 💡 The study concluded that heparin binds to the ITC-complex via cTnT, interacting with several sites on the N-terminal and/or central parts of the cTnT molecule, which might influence the immunodetection of analytes in human blood. One of the most talked about presentations at this year's #Bioprocessing Summit Europe is from Andreas Laustsen-Kiel at DTU - Technical University of Denmark talking about "Technical Challenges in Developing Monoclonal Antibodies Against Snake Venoms" by 🐍 Snakebite envenoming claims the lives of over 100,000 people each year. The only existing specific therapy against envenoming is antivenom based on polyclonal antibodies derived from the plasma of immunized animals, but these medicines are not compatible with the human immune system and may cause immunological adverse reactions. Additionally, they are expensive to manufacture. Find out more about this exciting work at the Bioprocessing Summit Europe, March 19-21, Barcelona - https://lnkd.in/eCrWaYG3 and the Nature paper: https://lnkd.in/e4cncHhe #chibioprocessingsummit #bioprocessing #snake #dtu #immunesystem
