Call for experts – Renewable Energy Infrastructure Supply Chains The IS Energy Advisory Group has launched a work plan aimed at facilitating a sustainable energy transition in Australia and New Zealand. One focus area is the sustainability risks and opportunities within the energy infrastructure supply chain. The Group is speaking to industry experts in various energy sectors, particularly seeking insights on supply chain challenges for renewable power generation, storage and transmission. The team intends to identify the most critical products needed, the key materials used in their manufacturing and their origins and major challenges within their supply chain. The main objective of this task is to identify the key sustainability-related risks and opportunities that may arise. We are less than two weeks away from our annual #ISCConnect conference, taking place this year in Sydney from 22 - 24 October! We look forward to the Action Towards Net Zero - Public & Private Sector session, happening on 23 October. #NetZero is the internationally agreed upon goal for mitigating global warming in the second half of the century. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded the need for net zero by 2050 to remain consistent with limiting global warming to 1.50C. The Australian infrastructure sector, which influences 70% of the countries’ emissions, must play a leading role. While progress has occurred, the scale and pace of the net transition requires a fundamental re-examination of the way the sector plans, delivers and operates infrastructure. This session discusses the first building block – a net zero definition, required to re-examine the sector’s strategic alignment on priority climate action to achieve national net zero infrastructure.
