Halfway through my internship at Korn Ferry, and what a journey it’s been! Here are the top three lessons I’ve learned so far ⤵️ 🌟Be Curious: Actively asking questions and seeking out diverse perspectives has allowed me to expand my knowledge of Korn Ferry, subsequently improving the quality of my work. Also, don’t forget to ask questions beyond work topics to help build stronger relationships, as not all conversations have to be work-related. 🌟Be Present: The shift to flexible work-from-home policies post-COVID has changed how we connect. As an intern, I’ve found that being physically present in the office allows me to connect with people I might not meet online. These connections can lead to exciting project opportunities! 🌟Be Yourself: Korn Ferry fosters an inclusive environment that encourages me to bring my full self to work. Maintaining a positive balance between authenticity and professionalism is essential for networking and building meaningful relationships in all aspects of life. Remember, being authentic is what makes you unique and valuable! I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my internship so far. Strong communication skills - Effective communication is crucial in any role. Hiring managers appreciate candidates who can articulate their thoughts clearly, actively listen, and engage in meaningful conversations. Keep it concise - Aim for a one or two-page resume, focusing on the most relevant and impactful information. Be concise and avoid unnecessary details or irrelevant experiences. Projects and extracurricular activities - Include any relevant projects, research work, or extracurricular activities that demonstrate your practical skills, teamwork, leadership, or problem-solving ability. This week we welcomed 100 interns from top business schools in the country as a part of our flagship Unilever Leaders Internship Program (ULIP). Backed by a 70-year history, this program has been the responsible for grooming legends, many of whom are today CXO’s within and outside HUL!    When I stepped into the room to share my experience with the interns, the enthusiasm and energy was palpable, and it brought back vivid memories of my own days as an intern. The start of April is when thousands of students from business schools across the country start their summer internships - a first but pivotal step to the corporate world. For this season of internships, no matter what organisation you are with, here are some tips on how to navigate the experience.    ·                The Joy of "Making It": Celebrate your victories, big and small. Internships are special. Bottle up this feeling. You’ll cherish it for years to come.  ·                Find Your Superpower: We all have our unique strengths. Recognize and leverage them to excel in everything you do.  ·                No course better than the one you’re on: Focus on creating your own path. Don't dwell on what company or project you missed out on; make the most of the one you have been chosen for ·                Put it out there: Ambition is a good thing, dream fearlessly and then work towards making it happen.   ·                Every voice matters, every opinion counts: Your voice matters and don’t hesitate to challenge the status quo.  ·                Enjoy the experience: Build a network of mentors and guides, lean on them, learn from them, and grow together. On October 20, 2022, I interviewed with Procter & Gamble for a paid internship. I remember telling the interviewers about this club I started in 2021 with my friend. I remember telling them that we held bi-weekly discussions on various global issues. “So, you guys just talk,” one of the interviewers asked. “No,” I said, “we have these discussions hoping to help create interconnectedness beyond university life." I didn’t end up getting the internship. But looking back, I wouldn’t of hired myself: I was a terrible interviewer at the time; I lacked the necessary skills to properly communicate the importance of what the club I created was doing, and how it was impacting people, society and interconnectedness beyond university life. Amaryllis Jones, one of the interviewers at the time, saw the importance of Global Educo and graciously gave me a chance to re-explain the value of the club. But I didn’t know how to—I was this Biology major who used their intuition and experience from listening to students, patients in hospitals, and customers at McDonald’s to co-create a vision and mission for what I imagined the world needed. Amaryllis was so kind, but I didn’t have the necessary tools or ability at the time to communicate innovation, or this new-to-the-world idea. I wasn't able to show how the skills we were learning through Global Educo discussions were benefiting humanity.  Instead, as so often happens, I began to see in 2024 Institutions like Dartmouth College and Northwestern University launch programs like “the Dialogue Project” and “the Centre for Enlightened Disagreement,” each to do what Global Educo had been doing since 2021: facing difficult conversations about problems in the world, in a way that creates interconnectedness when talking about divisive matter. The lesson here is the importance of communication--of practicing Peaceful Disagreement, Active Listening, Delivery, Curiosity & Open Mindedness, and Persuasion--each which were themes in Global Educo Association's recent workshop. ‘“Bigger Than Myself:” A Workshop for Practicing Interconnectedness in a Changing World’ sought to respond to the need for the skills I lacked when interviewing with Procter & Gamble, and a need of many professionals and students alike, in the world of today and tomorrow. 🚀 Embrace the Journey: Small Steps & Big Risks Lead to Career Success! 🚀 As students, the future often seems like a vast, uncharted territory filled with endless possibilities and, understandably, uncertainties. But this is the best time to start your career, try different areas and gain experience! Here’s a piece of advice: don’t be afraid to take risks, and remember that every big achievement starts with a small step! Here’s why taking risks and starting small is essential: 1. I’ve imagined posting this many times, and now it’s finally here. It’s been a long journey trying to land an internship in America’s corporate world. I sent out applications to hundreds of companies, seeking an opportunity to gain some valuable work experience. It felt like a full-time job, especially when responses were few and far between. Of all those applications, I only landed two interviews. Sometimes the hardest part was the silence but as they say, the best comes last. I kept at it and eventually received an internship offer from Procter & Gamble (P&G), a company whose reputation precedes itself as the largest consumer packaged goods (CPG) company by market capitalization in the world. The way they handle their onboarding process showed me exactly why they’ve been successful for so long. Every detail was thought through, making new interns feel welcomed and valued right from the start (outstanding company culture). P&G really lives by its PVPs (Principle,Value and Purpose) and the company’s employee value proposition ‘P&G + me = mutual success’ treating every employee like part of a big family. This experience has taught me the importance of persistence and continuous self-improvement. For anyone still sending out applications and facing rejections, keep your head up and don’t lose faith. The right opportunity is out there, and it will come when the time is right. Just Never say never, and don’t give up. Keep pushing forward, improving yourself, and yes, keep praying.

Time flies,After 7 weeks’ internship life(only 1 week lift),I have learned a lot from it.Wheather it’s learning about the business of my department,or the link with the other interns.These get me a unforgettable summer In the organization where I worked as an intern.(Industrial Safty Dept.1)From familiarizing myself with the relevant laws and ragulations,and go to the field with my colleagues to conduct audits to have the opportunity to participate in the deployment of the confirmation.I realized the huge difference between campus and workplace. On campus,I seldom have the opportunity to learn about practical challenges.During my short internship,I was exposed to a lot of unknown.Iam very grateful for the experience I gained. In the weekly internship program organized by hr.At the beginning, we had awkward communication,and the happy dinners we had later.These opportunities are also very valuable In conclusion,I am appreciate to the company and myself for joining the internship program.I've also spent these weeks getting me to know more about career plan.
