From $12,000 to $210,000: the Young Mining Professionals Scholarship Fund has grown significantly since its establishment just five years ago. Like many industries, mining is facing workforce challenges. And unlike many others, mining might not be top of mind for graduates. That’s why it’s so encouraging to see more than 25 mining industries contributing to this scholarship fund. Scholarships help students access the education and experience they need – and they help companies find the interns and future employees they need. Win-win! https://lnkd.in/eMynTMAx
This is a great way to spend on something that should see real value (and get a tax receipt if I understand correctly). This is definitely money well spent offering opportunities for students (also perhaps for newcomers to Canada also looking for rewarding work?). In the old days (OK, my old days) my school didn't have guidance counsellors, and even now, guidance counsellors may not be aware of jobs in this industry and the importance of a sustainable mining industry. This is definitely money well spent and Sherritt International Corporation good for encouraging some portion of bonuses go to this.
Excellent effort Ingrid Hibbard Mining and metals may be among the top 5 in the list which will face workforce challenges given the competition for winning the young generation’s interest.
It is great to see high value scholarships available to mining students. Well done.

10moI think scholarships are critical in getting younger people to take a look at the mineral industry as a future career. Once you understand it, its not so bad, and hence scholarships may be the key to getting people to at least kick the tires.
