Celebrating Our Virtual Event on Quality Metrics and KPIs! We had a fantastic virtual event yesterday where 38 quality enthusiasts from around the world gathered to dive into the world of metrics and KPIs in quality. A big thanks to our speaker, Ruslan Desyatnikov from QA Mentor - Software Testing Expert - 13 Years of Making Products Successful, for sharing his expertise and secrets in tracking and improving quality through KPIs and metrics. Ruslan highlighted that while quality metrics can have a mixed reputation, he provide valuable insights that can enhance processes and product quality. Ruslan discussed key metrics such as: **Number of tests based on the complexity of requirements: Indicates the quality of our test coverage. **Number of improvements filed by testers: Reflects the quality of our requirements. **Number of escaped defects by sprint/release/priority: Shows our test coverage effectiveness. **Defect rejection rate: Measures how well testers understand the product. We received excellent questions about choosing the right metrics for your product or company. In summary, metrics are crucial because they help our teams make informed business and process improvement decisions. Great decisions need solid data to support them. Next events: In person: August 7 Registration https://lnkd.in/g-xN_Dh8 Conference: August 22 Registration: https://lnkd.in/gMxdkwrB See you soon! #QualityAssurance #KPIs #QualityMetrics #ContinuousImprovement #DataDrivenDecisions #VirtualEvent #QACommunity

Infosys | The Test Chat | Empowering teams to master their testing capabilities while propelling individuals toward stellar career growth.
I recently had a thought-provoking conversation with my friend Vineet Bhargava, someone I deeply respect for his exceptional skills in testing, product and engineering. Despite knowing Vineet for over a decade, his words still resonate strongly with me. He highlighted a key reality: despite years of progression, innovation, evolution & Valued contribution, testing is often viewed as a foundational/Vanilla skill—a gateway for service vendors rather than a specialized expertise. It's considered an accessible entry or a starting point but highly overlooked for its long-term benefits. And while I wish it weren't true, I understood his perspective and couldn’t disagree. This perception isn’t just out there—it’s a narrative we, as testers, have inadvertently fueled over the years. By allowing the belief that “anyone can test” and that testing is an “easy job” to proliferate, we’ve undermined our own profession. The outcome? Testing is often seen as a low-skilled role or a fallback choice, rather than a critical pillar of product quality and success. We’ve let the narrative drift away, and it’s high time we drive to reclaim it and take ownership. While there is a narrative, I am committed to re-shape the narrative – to Highlight the depth of our work, the analytical thinking, and the strategic impact that quality testing brings not oonly for the product, but for the customers who are being served. Let’s stop downplaying our skills and start celebrating them. Let’s own and take charge of our story and showcase/highlight the value we as testers and the testing role brings in shaping the products. Change begins with us. Are we ready to redefine what it means to be a tester? #softwaretesting #softwareengineering #testingcommunity #changethenarrative #brijeshsays

This confirms to me only again that OKRs are problematic nonsense. It is a command & control mindset in "Agile". It survived waterfall. It is micro controlling on a meta level. You are not controlled by what you do, the concrete details of the project, but how you do them. Distrust everywhere. No building of good relations and expertise. It is still "You cannot manage what you don't measure" which is a problem for development. You can't measure value for people. Whatever you measure will only be oversimplification of a way more complex situation. Peoples opinions matter. Edit: I have reflected on this post: https://lnkd.in/dDdktiqa #Testing #Softwaretesting #OKR's are poison to any work of experts.

Some reflection on my post about OKRs: I have talked to different people and was told and shown that OKRs can be crafted in very different ways. They all agreed that this one were bad, problematic OKRs. I'm still not full convinced about OKRs, maybe a positive hands-on experience would change that. I see as well their potential for being helpful (to some) as well as their potential for misuse. Who can show me good examples which foster quality and do NOT represent a Command & Control mindset? #OKR #Testing #SoftwareTesting
