Let’s drive the #FairFoodRevolution! 🍽️🌍 Everyone deserves access to healthy, sustainable, and affordable food. it’s a right, not a luxury. That’s why CLEVERFOOD is launching the campaign, “Food is for Everyone: Shaping the European Food System for a #FairFoodRevolution”, in collaboration with the FOOD 2030 Networks. Running from October 1st to October 18th, and aligned with #WorldFoodDay, we encourage you to get involved by sharing your own experiences and stories! Meanwhile, the EU4Advice project is working to enhance sustainability in food systems by empowering short food supply chains (SFSCs). The project connects SFSC advisors across all 27 EU member states, integrates advisory tools into national Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS), and improves AKIS governance. Together, we are helping food chain actors adopt practices that are economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable. Join us in shaping a better food future! #FairFoodRevolution #CLEVERFOODeu #FOOD2030 #EU4Advice #SustainableFood

🤔 Would you use an eco-label on food products? The @EIT Food Consumer Observatory surveyed nearly 10,000 European consumers to understand the motivations, barriers and questions when it comes to eco-labelling on food products. To have the most positive impact, eco-labelling should be part of a package of interventions, including an increase in the availability of more sustainable choices and public information campaigns. From our research, it’s clear that there is widespread support for an independent, universal, and evidence-based logo for sustainable food products and for the responsibility for validating green claims to be in the hands of an independent party. But consumers need more in the way of information, transparency and trust. Download the full report to get all the insights from the Consumer Observatory ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gSA-GW3v The Consumer Observatory, powered by EIT Food, drives food systems transformation by providing consumer insights and guidance for agrifood stakeholders and offering market trend services to enable informed actions and decision-making toward a healthier, more sustainable and resilient future: https://lnkd.in/gXcDATiP 🙋🏻♂️To access the latest insights or discuss your specific research needs, get in touch today! #EcoLabelling #ConsumerInsight #FoodSystem

Agri-Food Technology | Product & Process Development | Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement | Circular Bioeconomy | Food Waste Valorisation
I'm excited to share my experience from the IFST Autumn Conference 2024, where I had the privilege of presenting my research poster on novel foods. This year's theme, "Food Evolution: From Established Practices to the Future of Food," couldn't be more timely. My presentation, "Novel Foods - Problem with Labelling, Testing, and Technology for Processing", highlighted a critical issue in our industry: While novel foods hold immense potential for sustainable and circular food systems, the current approval process is a significant bottleneck, in the UK it takes a minimum of 2 years to get pre-market approval and actual market placement. This lengthy timeline is stifling innovation precisely when we need it most. As our global population grows and climate change intensifies, the need for innovative, sustainable food solutions has never been greater. Novel foods could be key to addressing these challenges, but only if we can bring them to market quickly and efficiently. It's time for industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers to collaborate on streamlining the novel food approval process. We must balance safety with innovation to unlock the full potential of these groundbreaking food technologies. What are your thoughts on accelerating innovation in the food industry? How can we ensure safety while fostering the rapid development of sustainable food solutions? Let's continue this crucial conversation. Share your ideas below! #FoodInnovation #Sustainability #NovelFoods #FutureOfFood #IFSTAC24

🔔 Exciting News alert! HelloFresh, Keep-it Technologies AS, and Zebra Technologies have come together to launch the Smart Food Tech Coalition. The Coalition’s mission is clear - to foster collaboration among stakeholders across the food value chain advocating for policies that encourage the use of new shelf-life technologies to prevent food waste and enhance food safety. 📚 Studies confirm that smart food technologies contribute to reducing food waste, particularly compared to products that rely on traditional date markings. These technologies more accurately represent through indicators based on time and temperature whether food is safe for consumption. Surprisingly, their use is currently disincentivised in EU law. The Coalition ask is simple. We call for the recognition and official assessment of smart food technologies that determine freshness and shelf-life more accurately than traditional date marking. 👇 Please read through the Coalition’s position paper below to understand why and how we aim to make smart food technologies a part of our daily lives. 👉 Stay tuned for more information on how technologies can help us address food waste and more broadly for updates on the work of the #SmartTechCoalition and its members. For more information on the Coalition, the technologies developed by its members, or to join the movement, please feel free to reach out. #foodwaste #coalition #innovations

🌍 Youth-led Innovations in Sustainable Food Packaging 🌱 Sharing the results of an event organized by Eroski in collaboration with BCC Innovation, as part of the #INFORMPACK project, supported by EIT Food. A group of gastronomy students participated in exploring the future of sustainable packaging in the food industry. Key takeaways: ✅ Economic and regulatory incentives are crucial to encourage the adoption of eco-friendly materials in restaurants. ✅ Raising awareness among younger generations could be the driving force for more sustainable practices. ✅ While bio-packaging solutions have promise, concerns around functionality and safety need to be addressed to gain wider acceptance. This collaboration highlights how engaging young minds can lead to innovative solutions for reducing the environmental impact of food packaging. #Sustainability #FoodIndustry #EcoFriendly #CircularEconomy #Innovation #EITFood

We were proud to participate in this discussion. There is so much information available to consumers about being sustainable, but businesses—especially large producers—often have trouble finding resources. This webinar allowed us to discuss the lesser-known side of sustainability in the food stream and focus on what businesses are doing as well as the challenges they face. Thank you, Brass Tacks Initiative, for putting this together! If you need help implementing or refining sustainable initiatives in your business, contact us. We speak sustainability!
If you were unable to attend our recent webinar on "Food Production and Sustainability," you can now watch the recording on our YouTube channel! We would like to express our gratitude to all those who attended the live session and to our distinguished panelists, Todd Fischer, Steve Widdicombe, and David Russick, for sharing their valuable insights and expertise. https://lnkd.in/gtzCuxFs
