Info

In a world of over-, mis- or blurred information, inoqo provides retailers, brands, and their consumers with scientific data on the environmental, social, and biodiversity impacts of grocery products. Founded in 2020, inoqo aims to promote sustainable consumption and production practices within food systems. As a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, inoqo specializes in helping grocery retailers, F&B brands, and food suppliers assess the impact of their entire range of food and beverage products in a scalable and cost-efficient manner. Our platform guides grocery retailers towards achieving net-zero emissions by identifying emission hotspots and enabling food producers to take targeted actions to reduce them. By optimizing operations and minimizing emissions, retailers can also engage consumers with impact labels and data-driven solutions. Facing climate and ecological crises, the F&B retail industry is under growing pressure to demonstrate genuine sustainability in operations and product offerings. Despite the widespread setting of sustainability goals, tracking the environmental impact of product ranges remains a challenge. inoqo offers a solution that grows in accuracy over time by ingesting farm-level data and other primary data, enabling detailed tracking of carbon emission reductions throughout the entire food supply chain, moving beyond simple category-level data.

Why Did Migros shift from Category Representative Values to Product-Specific Values for Environmental Impact Assessments? Last Wednesday, we had the privilege of hosting Andrea Roberto Rota from Migros-Gruppe / Groupe Migros / Migros, the leading Swiss retailer, at our monthly inoqo webinar. The focus was on using Category Representative Emission Factors to measure the environmental impact of food and beverage products at scale. While many #food #retailers use these generic values as a starting point for reporting, our clients have highlighted several challenges: 🌿 Poor Data Representation: Generic emission factors often fail to accurately reflect specific product categories, leading to imprecise environmental impact assessments. 🌿 Inconsistent Data Sources: Current public databases don't cover all products, forcing retailers to rely on multiple sources, which complicates accurate comparisons. 🌿 Static Information: Emission factors don't capture ongoing improvements in electricity mix transitions, land-use change reductions, and product composition changes. 🌿 Time-Consuming Processes: Matching emission factors to diverse product assortments is labor-intensive, slowing down decision-making and reporting. In this webinar, Andrea shared Migros' real-world journey toward net zero. By watching the webinar, you'll learn about: 🍀 The reasons Migros initially used Category Representative Values. 🍀The limitations they encountered. 🍀Their transition to product-specific impact assessments. Progressing towards net zero with Representative Emissions Values: Learnings from the Migros Use Case Exciting news! Andrea Roberto Rota, Migros' sustainability expert, will be joining our upcoming webinar on July 31st, 2024, at 3 PM CEST. When Migros-Gruppe / Groupe Migros / Migros, the leading Swiss grocery retailer, launched M-Check in 2016, they used average generic emissions factors at the category level to calculate the impact of their food products. This meant that all dipping sauces received the same rating, whether they were fully plant-based or included cream. While this approach sufficed for establishing baseline emissions and complying with reporting standards like SBTi and CSDR, it had a significant drawback: it provided limited actionable insights for effective emissions reduction. In this webinar, Markus Linder, CEO and founder of inoqo, Andrea Roberto Rota, will delve into the key challenges and innovative solutions for reducing #scope 3 emissions in the #food #retail sector when relying on average generic emissions factors. Markus Linder will present inoqo's latest inoqo Category Assessment+ offering and explore how retailers can: 🌿 Start assessing and reducing their Scope 3 emissions using inoqo's dynamic category-based emission factors 🌿Dive deeper into hotspot categories with inoqo's product impact assessment solutions Don't miss out on this insightful discussion, register here for free: https://lnkd.in/dNSQiz3A #groceryretail #foodimpact #webinar #foodtech #scope3 #climatecrisis

🌿 Breaking News: EU Environmental Council Adopts Nature Restoration Law! 🌿 Today, the EU Environmental Council took a monumental step by adopting the Nature Restoration Law (NRL), marking the final stage for this long-awaited proposal to become law. This outcome is a tremendous victory for Europe’s #nature, #climate #action, #citizens, and future #generations. This law stands as one of the EU's most significant environmental policies, requiring member states to introduce measures to restore nature on a fifth of their land and sea by 2030. Key highlights of the Nature Restoration Law include: 🌿 Legally Binding Targets: Specific obligations for nature restoration across various ecosystems – terrestrial, marine, freshwater, and urban. 🌿 Climate Mitigation: Measures aimed at mitigating climate change and reducing the effects of natural disasters. 🌿 Pollinator Protection: Strategies to reverse the decline of pollinator populations. 🌿 Organic Soils and Peatlands: Restoration measures for organic soils in agricultural use, including drained peatlands, one of the most cost-effective methods to reduce emissions in the agricultural sector and enhance biodiversity. 🌿 Urban Green Areas: Efforts to prevent the deterioration of restored areas and promote an increase in urban green spaces. We are very proud of Austria’s Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Leonore Gewessler, and grateful for her courage. After the Nature Restoration Law was adopted, she shared these inspiring words: “My conscience tells me unequivocally: When the healthy and happy lives of future generations are at stake, courageous decisions are needed. That is why I voted for this nature conservation law today.” Thank you, Minister Gewessler, for your leadership and commitment to a sustainable future. 🌿💚 This regulation will help the EU fulfill its international environmental commitments and restore European nature. Let's celebrate this historic achievement and continue working together towards a sustainable future! 🌍💚 #NatureRestorationLaw #ClimateAction #Sustainability #EUEnvironment #Biodiversity #GreenFuture
