In The News: AAA projects that 70.9 million travelers will head 50 miles or more from home over the 2024 Independence Day holiday travel period. "With summer vacations in full swing and the flexibility of remote work, more Americans are taking extended trips around Independence Day," said Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President of AAA Travel. "We anticipate this July 4th week will be the busiest ever with an additional 5.7 million people traveling compared to 2019." Gas prices are lower than in 2023 when the national average was $3.53. Pump prices will likely continue going down leading up to Independence Day, according to AAA research. The lower gas prices may prompt more people to travel by car. "Drivers in large metro areas can expect the worst traffic delays on Wednesday, July 3rd, as they leave town, and Sunday, July 7th, as they return," said Bob Pishue, transportation analyst at INRIX, who worked with AAA on this body of research. See the infographic below from our Automoblog team, which has tips to help ensure you have a safe and fun trip for the 4th. "Road trips over the holiday week could take up to 67 percent longer than normal," Pishue cautioned. "Travelers should monitor 511 services, local news stations, and traffic apps for up-to-the-minute road conditions."

Another holiday weekend, another travel record. Due to people being on summer vacation and still having flexible schedules has led to yet another record number of travelers going away for July 4. Nearly 71 million people are expected to make trips for the Independence Day. One in five Americans is expected to take a drive that’s 50 miles or more. Road trippers will see at least one improvement over last year — lower gas prices. That’s helpful considering we’re heading into the summer of “funflation” where so many types of entertainment — from concerts to movies — are more expensive now. Are you going away for the 4th — if so, how will you be getting there? #july4 #funflation #travelrecord #airtravelrecord #roadtravel #roadtrips #holidaytravel #flightprices #travel #independenceday https://lnkd.in/gMB95NTu

Great insight on travel trends
When the data speaks loud and clear, no crystal ball is needed to predict short term travel trends. All indicators point to a busy summer and fall 2024, as any concerns about traffic jams, air travel headaches, or overcrowding doesn’t seem to be deterring Americans from enjoying their vacations. #instatravel #busysummer #traveltrends #enjoyvacation #travelling
