Here’s what the programme involves: Holistic Support: Participants receive tailored support covering everything from housing & health services to job training & financial literacy, ensuring they have the tools needed for a sustainable future. Community Building: Each cohort creates a supportive network, fostering a sense of community and belonging. This network is crucial for emotional and practical support, helping participants thrive during the programme and long after. Continuous Improvement: Feedback from each cohort helps us refine and enhance the programme, ensuring we always meet the needs of those we serve most effectively. Tony Armstrong on Sky News - Selling off community assets is a "sugar rush" - generating a temporary high but causing long term damage to our communities. We're calling for a Community Right to Buy, giving community groups right of first refusal to buy much-loved local assets. We're also supporting the Save Birmingham campaign, who have helped residents nominate nearly 200 places for protection on the savebirmingham.org website. "The people of Birmingham and other places are not responsible for the problems their councils have got into, but they will be directly impacted if services, buildings and much-loved assets are taken away." Local community organisations positively impact the local economy - providing jobs, getting people into training and supporting mental health. Councils need to build partnerships with them to create sustainable solutions for the future. Read the five big reforms we're calling on the next government to make in the Locality Building Thriving Neighbourhoods Manifesto: https://lnkd.in/eXnTa6wr #localgov #birmingham #community #SaveOurSpaces

Lip service is a pervasive problem in our communities. We are all too familiar with empty promises that are not backed up by action. It's high time we pledge to do more than just talk. As one community member said, "They come out here, tell big stories, tell us they will help, and we don't see them again." Let's make sure we are not those people. Let's be the ones who follow through with actions to support our communities. #CommunitySupport #ActionSpeaksLouderThanWords Lip service, or making empty promises without action, undermines community support by fostering distrust and disappointment. It's crucial to follow through with actions to genuinely support communities, rather than just offering words without substance. This approach strengthens community bonds and ensures meaningful support.
