Insight Surgery recently collaborated with surgeons at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust hospital on a complex case of Ewing's sarcoma involving the left tibial diaphysis. The surgeon requested both patient-specific and allograft-specific surgical guides to achieve precise resection and reconstruction. The custom guides were designed to perform chevron osteotomies to enhance torsional accuracy and stability. The inclusion of blocking wires minimized stress concentrations at the apexes, reducing the risk of fracture propagation post-surgery. Insight Surgery engineers ensured the guides were compatible with readily available hospital tools, optimizing the surgical workflow. The patient's anatomy was successfully reconstructed using a patient-matched allograft, sourced and prepared by our team. This collaboration exemplifies the power of tailored surgical planning in achieving optimal outcomes. #OrthopedicSurgery #EwingsSarcoma #SurgicalInnovation #3DPrinting #PatientCare #InsightSurgery #Oncology #OrthopedicOncology
