#WorkingPaperWednesday: [June Publication] Here is our latest 📜 Working Paper highlighting the critical and urgent need to integrate gender justice into climate transition policies. Failing to prioritise gender equity in these policies risks perpetuating structural gender inequalities. Key concerns include limited access to economic opportunities, employment, and social protection for women, their over-representation in precarious work, and their primary responsibility for social reproduction and care. Naturally... I'm all about equality and an even and fair ground for opportunity. I have spent most of my career in male dominated industry and was often the only woman in the boardroom. So yes, I have been chipping away at the glass ceiling for years. Though, to be clear... equality is for all people and this includes people who are the most qualified for the position... regardless of sex, race, physical appearance or sexual orientation. Some industries may naturally end up with 60:40 others may be 40:60... and so on. We must be mindful of targets that may simply not be achievable and could encourage recruitment based on sex instead of smarts. #equalitydiversityinclusion #equalopportunity #internationalwomensday2024 #diversitymatters #bereal #workplaceculture #companyculture #wob #womeninmanufacturing #womeninbusiness

"We must invest in developing and nurturing more equitable and just systems that support our individual and collective agency. It is not sufficient to allocate funds or develop programmes that react to the conditions and structures that contribute to and result in the marginalization of women. We can meaningfully advance transformative gender justice by adopting an intersectional, decolonial approach to governance, policymaking, design, and programme development across sectors and contexts." — Bushra Ebadi, Research Associate at United Nations University - EGOV #UNU4SDG5 #InvestInWomen #IWD2024

On #InternationalWomensDay, our Executive Vice President, Mavis Owusu-Gyamfi reminded us: "Unless we put women at the front and give them an extra step, they will not benefit equally as men." At ACET, we #inspireinclusion by working with African governments to adopt a gender lens when developing and implementing policies for economic transformation and to ensure gender analysis is incorporated in all aspects of economic policymaking.
