    If I were job hunting right now, I'd probably be considered a walking red flag. The reason: Job hopping 🚩 I’m always surprised when I hear a hiring manager judge someone by the length of time they stayed in a role. I even had a few interviewers say that they questioned my judgment and decision-making skills. 🫠 You might see a 3-month role on someone’s resume and assume they’re a risky hire. But here’s what you won’t see: • Startups being acquired • A toxic, or poorly managed, work environment • The moment when a new hire realizes that the job was misrepresented • Companies that hired too fast and then laid folks off even faster • The interviews where a candidate didn’t ask the hard questions (or didn’t know to) And let’s be real — there’s a bigger incentive to move every 2-3 years than to stick around for a 1% raise. 🤷🏽♀️ As I prepare to start hiring, I've been reflecting on how to structure the interview process. Having experienced layoffs and unapologetically job hopped myself, I know firsthand that tenure isn’t the only measure of someone’s abilities or work ethic. There are smarter ways to evaluate talent beyond just how long they've stayed at a job. We’re not defined by the 6 months we spent at a company or the year we spent away from the workforce. We’re defined by our character and our work ethic. And short stints on a resume don’t automatically make someone a risky hire.

    I recently discovered that TELUS gave away my landline number to someone else. I was a customer of 35+ years! If it wasn't for this new person testing the voicemail (which I had setup to email me as sound .wav files) I would have had no idea. I contacted #TELUS and demanded a refund of the past four months as they were obviously double-billing. Let alone the fact I had to bring it to their attention, I highly doubt they will escalate the issue to their engineers. It's so easy for fraudulent activity such as call forwarding and the ability change voicemail passwords, I have no faith they will do anything about it until affected people start taking legal action. As more people become displaced and/or move to newer communities that do not yet have fibre optics installed, I see this becoming a huge issue for their customers! I used that number for everything. Business cards, business listings, login to CRA, etc... Not anymore. 😡
