President at Housing Consultants of America, LLC (Affordable Housing Consulting, Auditing, & Training) & Mrs North Phoenix 2024-2025
It's time for a reminder: people experiencing homelessness need empathy, not judgment. It's all too easy to make assumptions about someone's situation without knowing the full story. But the truth is, homelessness can happen to anyone. It's a complex issue with a variety of contributing factors, and it's important that we approach it with compassion and understanding. Instead of casting judgment, let's work together to create solutions that address the root causes of homelessness and provide support and resources for those who need it. Let's listen to their stories and experiences, and work towards a world where everyone has access to safe and stable housing. Remember, empathy goes a long way. Let's treat everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of their circumstances. https://lnkd.in/gsi6zpma Info@HousingConsultantsOfAmerica.com #EndHomelessness #EmpathyNotJudgment #HomelessnessAwareness #Homelessness #HomelesstoHoused #AffordableHousing

Check and see if you are a Smart Cookie! 🎓 🍪 😀 Q: What law establishes funding and support for services such as homelessness prevention, emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing? A: The HEARTH Act. It also added definitions for homelessness and chronic homelessness, consolidated grant programs, and established a process to coordinate efforts to get people into permanent housing. Homelessness Week: Urgent Call for Change! Queensland is seeing a rise in families needing short-term emergency accommodation due to the shortage of affordable housing. This is a stark reminder of the need for action now. For families with young children, staying in a hotel or motel long-term presents challenges like: • Disrupted routines • Limited space • Lack of familiarity • Privacy issues • Restricted access to resources. The emotional impact on both parents and children can be significant. Community services play a crucial role in easing these transitions and providing stability. Let's come together to support those in need. #HomelessnessWeek #Homesforkids #SupportFamilies #AffordableHousing

As a community, it's our responsibility to address the issue of homelessness in Britain. In order to make a real impact, we must provide both immediate and long-term solutions that address the root causes of homelessness. This is a crisis that requires more than just acknowledgement; it requires empathy, action, and a steadfast commitment to change. We need to make this a priority. #HowarthHousing #emergencyaccommodation #temporaryaccommodation #endhomelessness #homelessness

part2 Scottish Parliament has committeed to respecting Rights of the Child. Yet has not yet articulated that in terms of making positive obligations upon local councils to implement their awarded power to set a rent cap (rent ceiling) for the purpose of respecting, protecting and realising a Child's right to "adequate housing"/his home (iCESCR). That missing link can be addressed. Limiting the price as well as the quantum of AirB&B is becoming a necessary part of the remedy too. Capping longterm rents without the same for AirB&B, creates a drive towards more of the latter. Scottish parliament has done good detailed work on the issue of affordability & rent caps. Yet fails in its meaningful application. Often for political reasons. Planning departments could require new build affordability to include a higher % to be ringfenced for families incl low income households. They could also include a % to be for multigenerational households. Financial, insurance & legal detterance against a family sharing or having a "lodger", including in rented accomodation, can be addressed. Maybe its time for the kids to say - enough is enough. A framework for a legal action in Scotland is provided via iCESCR, the iCRC and the Scotland Act.
We're really working hard to get word out about our book, and about the invisible issue of family homelessness. I'm out here in KS for a couple of events next week.

While housing insecurity and homelessness is sadly a common and much-discussed issue in our communities, not everyone may understand what "homelessness" truly means and looks like. Q Shelter is pleased to launch this short video explaining some of the influences and complexities of homelessness. We've produced it so more people can have a better understanding of the issue, to try to reduce stigma and encourage more people to take steps to reduce the impact on our communities. https://bit.ly/43oKCTn #homematters #homelessness

Campaign Coordinator at Focus Ireland, National Spokesperson for SPARK . Chairperson of the board of Treoir.
Today, worrying new figures about homelessness in Ireland for June 2024 were released. They reveal an increase of 144 individuals experiencing homelessness, distressingly including 88 children. Over the first six months of the year, 153 more families entered emergency accommodation, with 112 of these families being led by a lone parent. However, this situation is not inevitable. We can end homelessness through robust preventative measures and a fairer allocation of social housing. With the increase in social housing production, the tools to make a difference are within our grasp. The government’s 'Housing for All' strategy, launched in September 2021 amidst a period when COVID-19 emergency measures were successfully reducing family homelessness, promised much. Yet, since then, overall homelessness has risen by 6,091 people. 4,112 of this increase has been within families, compared to a 1,979 increase among adult-only households. Astonishingly, child homelessness has doubled. It is clear we need more than a broad housing strategy. We must urgently call on the government to introduce a dedicated family and child homelessness strategy. Now is the time to act decisively, harness our increasing social housing production, and create sustainable, long-term solutions for those most vulnerable in our society. Together, let’s ensure that every child and every family has a safe place to call home. #Homelessness #HousingForAll #SocialHousing #Ireland #EndHomelessness #FamilyHomelessness #ChildHomelessness

Joy Hunt has experienced housing insecurity throughout the years, she understands the hurdles and complications of losing your housing. She knows the indignity homeless folks experience everyday. The first time she experienced homelessness, she was working a 40 hour work week, homeless, and barely affording a hotel room in Sacramento to ensure she wasn't out living in the elements. In turn, when she would reveal to people she was homeless people would reply "𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴." This begs the question, 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚? Homelessness does not look just one way, instead we must begin to break down those misconceptions and listen to stories like Joy that are unconventional but oh so common. ❤️Double Tap to like this post and share Joy’s story! Follow @theringofdemocracy for more on housing issues facing Sacramento. We will be highlighting more stories like Joy's in the coming months. #TheRingOfDemocracy #Sacramento #Housing #HousingInsecurity #Homelessness
