I've avoided most conferences since COVID. Generally, they aren't worth it. General startup advice, a few good reunions but other than that time is better spent moving the business forward. I'm going to be honest: Transform felt worth it. Every person there was in our ICP or they were in People functions themselves and were to be learned from. I, alone, met about 80 people, Mentorly will likely book 20 demos of people who actively run programs and are looking to solve some issues. I was able to laugh with them, ask some questions about what they are doing now - and I think these demos will be fun and feel connected. Different from those booked through cold outbound, for sure. We will be doing a cost analysis of leads from conferences vs. leads from outbound and ad spend. Happy to share results here if of any interest. Let me know. I also met a few genuine friends who I want to shine a light on: 1. Evan LaPointe- I've been on Zoom calls with him for over 6 months as I've worked with him + Kyle Boulay in a founder coaching cohort. His guidance helped me so much with those sessions, but breaking bread with Evan was truly delightful. If you're looking to level up yourself or your team, I'm happy to intro. His research and methods with CORE are just mountains ahead of anything that's out there. 2. Craig Forman- we nerded out over culture, data, and teams of course. I also liked talking about the creative process, building a business, and learning about his incredible background at Culture Amp and launching his own consulting firm Culture C (https://lnkd.in/eEeJQ3xe). So from a conference doubter, this one was worth it.
"The organization should survey as much as they can respond" - Craig Forman, Founder of CultureC Consulting and Former Lead People Scientist at Culture Amp. 💡 Reflecting on the remarkable insights shared at 2024 Transform, Craig's quote stood out for us. This encapsulates the essence of our discussions - the importance of actionable insights to shape organizational strategies. Highlights from Transform 2024 were plentiful ✍️ 1. Craig Forman, fondly known as Culture Craig, emphasized the necessity for organizations to actually ✨act✨ upon the wealth of data they possess about employee needs. Neglecting to act undermines the very purpose of surveys. He said, "we have all given information and never heard back", so the importance here is to collect information that you can respond to, this will increase trust, not break it. The Mentorly team had many conversations this week at Transform around the fact that employees have been asking for mentorship and growth opportunities. People leaders want an actionable way to respond, irrespective of the size or sector they are in. 2. Kate Fahy, VP of People, and Jim Gibson, Chief Financial Officer at Sequoia, hosted a panel that stressed the imperative of alignment between HR and Finance. With 75% of company expenditure directed towards human resources, collaboration between these teams is paramount for managing business priorities effectively. 3. AI emerged as a pivotal topic, with the consensus that it will expedite HR processes, enabling teams to be more responsive to employee needs and make data-driven decisions that drive performance. 🏆 We'd like to thank... Special thanks to the HR Transform team that we worked with for orchestrating our experience at this event: Melanie McTaggart, Anthony DiPietrantonio, and Niki Goodridge. 🙏 Bravo to Samara Jaffe, leading Transform. It was tracked as the most impactful and insightful event of the year by our Mentorly team members. 💜 Lastly, a heartfelt appreciation to this year's host, AJ Thomas ⚡️, whose infectious energy, humor, and mastery of moderation made HR Transform an unforgettable experience. Elegant, forward-thinking, and thoroughly worthwhile - here's to another year of transformative insights and connections! 🌟 #HRTransform #MentorlyCommunity #mentorship #transform2024 #culturefirst

A week later, and I’m still buzzing from the amazing Skill Surge event! As a founder, I walked away with powerful insights from our brilliant panelists Here are my top 3 takeaways: 1. Remote Work: A Double-Edged Sword—Sure, it slashes commute time, but it also blurs the lines between work and personal life. Many find themselves tethered to their screens from dawn till dusk, sacrificing breaks, personal time, and spontaneous teamwork. We need to find a better balance! 2. Alignment is Non-Negotiable—Success isn’t a solo act; it’s a team effort. Every team needs to unite around a shared goal, and leadership must ensure that victory is felt company-wide. When the company wins, we all win. 3. Skilling: No One-Size-Fits-All —Personal growth starts with individual ownership. It's up to each of us to drive our development, with managers providing the support and resources needed. As a company, we must be enablers, and not mandate the learning path unilaterally for someone. What’s your take on these insights? Let’s continue the conversation!
