This time of year can be especially challenging for many Veterans, and we're here to support them every step of the way. These last few weeks have been extremely busy for our team with support for those who have suffered from Bushfires, homelessness, financial hardships and loss of close family members. While it may appear like a quieter few weeks with less of our staff on social events, this is not from a lack of interest but rather we are deeply involved in crucial welfare support behind the scenes, this can often go well into the late hours of the night. We're doing our best to balance the many supports happening behind the scenes with work, family and our own injuries/illnesses, this also helps to ensure none of our staff suffer from burn out. We are thankful to have a strong networks Nationally with some of the more recent welfare support out of our financial capabilities however collectively through those strong networks we are able to support the Veterans and their Families on an emotional level and with financial support in a timely manner. This year has been hard also with an increased demand for emergency financial assistance where we have also had to contend with reduced donations throughout the year and this is mostly due to the climate with many having increased rates/rents and general expenses of daily living. We have also turned down some larger donations throughout the year, similar to last year and while they would of greatly assisted our many programs and supports available, an earlier post in the year we made is ‘We will never want any Permanent Impairment payment or money which is for your injuries/illnesses and to help you/your family’. If you are in a good financial position and have the capacity to make a donation, anything over $2 is tax deductible and goes to supporting Veterans and their Families through out many amazing programs and support services. We also know many Charity organisations would be seeing similar effect to us with increased welfare due to the stressors of cost of living and many other reasons so if not our community-charity please check them out and donate if in a financial position to help support Veterans and their Families. I'd be willing to bet, the more charitable you are the jollier you become. Not only during the Christmas holidays but all year round. A charitable heart leads to a charitable mind which leads to a charitable soul. Think about it for a minute. Many times when we are charitable, it's a spur of the moment type of charity, and we give from the heart without even thinking about it. We see someone on the street in need for example, and we give right from the heart because we immediately feel for that person. But when we allow our mind to enter the charitable equation, we are thinking about that individual on the street, and intellectually understand and feel for the day in and day out circumstances that person faces on an ongoing basis, so we choose to give regularly. When charity enters your soul, it becomes part of your very being. It transcends the physical, and becomes a part of who you are, and how you look at the world, and live your life. People become the primary focus in your life, and things become secondary. Choose Charities believes it's going to take a collective nationwide charitable change of heart, mind and soul to end poverty and homelessness in America. If America can find the support, expertise, and billions to explore inner and outer space, research and cure diseases, and fund our military.
