I’m hearing a lot of people assume that because they’ve been out in the sun this summer that their vitamin D level will see them through winter. And this may be the case. But there are many reasons why your vitamin D level is likely to be low: 🔹 you’re living in the northern hemisphere with limited sunny days 🔹 you work indoors 5 days a week or during the night 🔹 you’re fully clothed when you go out - only exposing your face, arms and maybe your lower legs 🔹 you slap on the sunscreen when you go out in the sun 🔹 you have darker skin 🔹 you’re over 65 🔹 you have a health condition like coeliac disease, Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis that impacts vitamin D absorption 🔹 you take medications like antibiotics, corticosteroids and blood pressure drugs that deplete vitamin D Supplementing vitamin D between October and March is recommended but it’s always best to get your current levels checked first to see how much of the vitamin you need - too little won’t provide any benefit and too much can be harmful. You can find out how much you need with an easy home test kit: https://l.bttr.to/8aIIq DM me if you have any questions. #VitaminD #VitaminDDeficiency #VitaminDTesting #HealthyLiving #LiveBetter

Talking about chronic kidney disease on world kidney day. Our kidneys are amazing. Among the many functions they perform. Some of them include: removing toxins from the body, removing excess water from the body, regulating the acid and base in the body, keeping our electrolytes like potassium, calcium and sodium within normal, maintaining the hemoglobin to be normal by producing a hormone called erythropoietin and producing vitamin D which keeps our bones healthy Chronic kidney disease can be prevented by ensuring we eat a healthy and balanced diet, exercise regularly, keep well hydrated and avoid over the counter medications like painkillers including brufen and diclofenac The full video is available on YouTube using the link #chronickidneydisease #worldkidneyday #ourkidneysareamazing #keepingkidneyshealthy https://lnkd.in/eDExFv-f

"𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸". Many patients come up with this question to me. So let me clear one thing, fatty liver is not only caused by alcohol consumption. If you are Over-weight, there's a chance of fatty liver. If you have Type-2 Diabetes, there's a chance of fatty liver. If you are insulin resistant, there's a chance of fatty liver. If you have Dyslipidemia, there's a chance for fatty liver. These are the most common reasons for 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Next time, do not assume if you don't drink you can't have fatty liver. But do not think, without drinking fatty liver occurs then why don't have a drink. A big No. Do not give this excuse. Change your lifestyle, improve clean diet plan and be physically active. If you do so, you are far from dreadful diseases and disorders. If you find this helpful, support it and repost. Life with diabetes Diabetes affects up to 90% of the population. But you can avoid it with proper nutrition and exercise. Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. We have type 1 and type 2 diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the pancreas does not produce insulin because the body's immune system attacks the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. (affect 8% people) In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas produces less insulin than it should, and your body becomes resistant to insulin. (affect 90% people) Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood glucose. Dyspepsia, commonly known as indigestion, can arise from various factors that affect digestive function. Here are the key causes: 1. When stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, it can cause burning sensations and discomfort in the upper abdomen. 2. Sores that develop on the lining of the stomach or duodenum due to infection with H. pylori bacteria or long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). 3. A bacterial infection that can inflame the stomach lining and lead to dyspeptic symptoms like bloating, nausea, and pain. 4. Consuming large meals, fatty or spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, and carbonated beverages can trigger dyspeptic symptoms. #gastrocare #gastroenterologist #Essex #London #Guthealth #UK #ConsultantGastroenterologist #GastroHealth #DairyIntolerance #Lactoseintolerance #InstaHealth
