A recent publication in the Drug Science, Policy and Law journal explores the intricate history of psycholytic therapy through the lens of the European Medical Society for Psycholytic Therapy (EPT) from 1964 to 1974. Led by the eminent Professor Hanscarl Leuner, this society served as a pivotal platform for LSD therapists across Europe, facilitating professional exchange and pioneering innovative treatment modalities. The article looks at 45 documents left by Professor Leuner, a distinguished figure in LSD research and psycholytic therapy. With insights gleaned from an enlightening interview conducted with Professor Leuner in 1996, as well as a comprehensive evaluation of publications from EPT members, we gain a understanding of the society's profound impact on the landscape of psychedelic therapy during the 1960s and 1970s. Thrilled to share our latest paper published in the European Journal of Heart Failure #EJHF. We evaluated the quality of reporting in heart failure randomized controlled trials in high-impact journals by assessing their adherence to #CONSORT reporting guidelines. We found that the overall quality of trial reporting has improved over time, though it remains suboptimal, especially in less common trial designs like multi-group, cluster randomized, and non-inferiority or equivalence trials. Use of the CONSORT checklist, particularly in uncommon designs, could increase the transparency of trial reporting and better inform the interpretation of results, practice, and policy. #trialdesign #consort #evidence Veronica Augustina Bot Lehana Thabane, PhD

The gap between deficiency state-observational research and interventional research is a huge problem for clinicians. This month in the Stacks, I have an article about the difficulty of examining research on iron deficiency anemia. Most observational studies show increased risks, including mental health diagnoses, in patients who have iron deficiency. Yet, the number of intervention trials using iron to solve mental health symptoms is almost nonexistent. Of course, we aren't going to let your patients walk around deficient, but how can we be confident that fixing a deficiency will lead to any clinically meaningful outcome when we never study it? You can get a free reader account to The Stacks, which gives you research and opinion articles for integrative clinicians to help you stay up to date and keep you on your toes. https://lnkd.in/gF36uPg6

This is s great article ecplaining my thoughts about shared decision-making and co-creation. If the patient and the clinician or researcher does not respect, understand or care about each other’s perspectives, acquired knowledge and experiences the collaboration will not be complete. The patient, as explained, has a long way to go to understand, know and use his body and soul and the clinician to use his scientific methods, experiences, respect and person-Centres culture COMBINED and in co-creation with the individual patient.

Patient-centered care models highlight the value of "experiential knowledge" as a fundamental element in shared decision-making and collaborative care. But what does this term actually refer to? Here is a very interesting article by patient-researcher Sara Riggare on the classification of patient knowledge. See also our article about her and other pioneering patient-researchers on the Pulmonary Hypertension Knowledge Sharing Platform at this link: https://lnkd.in/dT-7csex
