She shares how her beginnings in a village in Kenya, paired with a passion for informatics, have driven her to where she is today, and how an organization like the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) fosters a true sense of belonging. #MinutesWithMorris

Hey everybody, we are here at SIM 2024 with a special guest, Doctor Judy Detroia. Hey, how are you? It's great to see you. Same here. And it's a little bit improbable for you, not for us, because you've just been inducted as a SIM fellow. So you really. But where it all started was in a village in Kenya, right? You know, that's due to the faison. But yes, I, I grew up in Kirinyaga village. And I, you'll hear me say this, I'm a last small student and I actually had to drop some of the history and geography classes to take computers. Computers, not computer science per se. And then we lost the teacher. And so I became the teacher. To the students so this this love for computers and you'll hear me say that if computers love me, if anything else loves me as half as much as informatics, then I'll be OK. So that's why it started. But it's taken the thing that you can take a girl out of the village, but not the village out of the gal. And that's really that that village rental mentality and the village networking, which is our crossover with you yes remains alive even today in DC and you have a. Concept of this last mile of giving back and you've really embraced that and I think that is influenced the way you think about sin and I'd love you to talk a little bit about that yeah I I love this organization and I'll tell you that it was actually in the same meeting in DC when I came and participated in the hackathon I I followed McCauley I didn't know what this organization was I bought that Mohannad he was patient with me and I just felt like I belong here and so. Subsequently, I've come every year except for the COVID years and when I was on a post maternity leave. But apart from that, I've felt that this is a place that I call home. I find, you know, the companies don't just bring their, you know, their sales people, they bring their, their engineers, people like, oh, let me show you this database or this technology and that's just amazing. And that that that's why I come here every. That's fantastic. Well, it is great to catch up with you here. And congratulations on being a fellow. And I know Emery is very lucky to have you, but so are we. But I wanna say one thank you because it takes a village. And you know, I remember that when the Radixx was being formed, I was like, wow, who's this guy who believes so much? But I thought it's Geraldine who convinced you. And it turns out that you really believed in this vision to support women and at that actually paid for me to attend one of the same. So thank you very much. Absolutely. Well, I am, I feel like we made a very good investment. Thank. Thank you. This is wonderful.

"This website will be used for educational and academic purposes, contributing to general knowledge in the fields of medicine and science, as well as frequent discussions on underrepresented topics." This is how it all began in 2020 during the pandemic in isolation. As a high school student aspiring to study medicine, Ana Filipan chose to write a research blog in 2020 as preparation for further education. Over the next four years, the project concept was developed with the help of Nika Brestovečki, who stands behind the distinctive design of Analysiam and briefly launched Instagram page. Filipan then considered using Analysiam as an educational platform in consultations with her colleague Murad Abd Eilah from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the summer of 2024, the process finally bore fruit, and an initiative for a platform focused on research, innovation, and sustainability in medicine was developed. Analysiam connects scientists, geeks, medical professionals, and STEM enthusiasts on the path to creating better, sustainable, and holistic healthcare through the application of technology in health and networking!
