The government has not hit its target of having six or more rapid or ultra-rapid electric vehicle chargers at every motorway service area in England by the end of 2023. Research conducted by the RAC found that 46 of 119 motorway services reviewed on Zapmap have the target number of chargers above 50kW to serve the UK’s growing fleet of battery-electric vehicles. Mr Hammond drives high-end performance cars. The greater mass of people need a simple cheap way to be mobile. If BYD et al is allowed to market its cheaper-than-petrol EV cars, the masses including myself will go EV. We are seeing this now in Manila when kids to adults are using e-trikes (lead acid or Li-Ion battery) for transporting people & light goods with price competitive or lower than gas-powered motorcycles

I was reading the article on "The Driven" that highlights a key aspect in the discussion about the safety of electric vehicles (EVs) compared to gasoline and diesel cars. The revelation that EVs are less prone to fires than traditional cars is a significant turn. Personally, I believe this information not only emphasizes the environmental benefits of EVs but also their superiority in terms of safety. This data could be a strong incentive to accelerate the transition to more sustainable mobility, debunking myths and concerns about EV safety. Looking to learn something new?   Electric vehicles (EVs) are not a new concept! They made their debut in the late 1800s and faced fierce competition from gasoline-powered cars. During the turn of the 20th century, it was unclear if electric, steam or gasoline-powered automobiles would seize the market. Charging concerns, the high cost of ownership and the complexity of long-distance trips are the three leading reasons why more than 40 per cent of U.S. electric vehicle owners say they will likely switch back to combustion engine vehicles with their next purchase, according to the results of a new consumer survey from McKinsey & Company. The findings suggest further complications lie ahead on the path toward an electrified future already encountering slowing sales growth — and they fly in the face of conventional industry thinking that consumers will stick with EVs once they make the propulsion leap. The report notes that several automakers, including Tesla, Mercedes-Benz AG, General Motors, and Ford Motor Company have made cuts to their near-term goals for EVs since the start of 2023. Even the Biden administration seems to be backtracking on previously proposed policy. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA recently released new vehicle fuel economy standards that are less stringent than the Biden administration originally proposed. Consumer Reports finds electric vehicles still far less reliable than conventional gas-powered vehicles According to a new survey published by Consumer Reports, electric vehicles are nearly 80% less reliable than conventional vehicles.

As the automotive world shifts toward electric vehicles (EVs), one question keeps coming up: Are EVs more expensive or actually cheaper in the long run? The answer? It depends on where you live and what you buy. While EVs often come with a higher sticker price, their cost of ownership over five years is lower in most states.
